BitPay, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated Senior Legal and Compliance Operations Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Legal, this role will play an important role in coordinating day to day processes related to legal operations, regulatory licensing, and corporate governance.   

In this role you will contribute to a rapidly evolving industry, working closely with our Head of Legal, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, regulators, and external partners. This role is critical to ensuring effective strong cross-functional communication and cultivating a compliance-first culture to support the company’s growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory licensing applications and maintenance:
    • Coordination of MTL and other state registration applications and ongoing maintenance, including applications, renewals, maintenance filings, change notifications.
    • Assist with foreign licensing matters and information gathering across stakeholders.
    • Ensure all information as requested by regulators is tracked, gathered, reviewed, and delivered in a timely manner, including licensing trackers, regulatory calendars, and maintenance and organization of documentation.
    • Ensure all licensing requirements are kept up to date and stakeholders are notified of upcoming requirements.
  • Corporate/subsidiary governance organization:
    • Maintenance and organization of all corporate documents, e.g. organizational documents, resolutions, authorizations.
    • Assist with due diligence questionnaires and track review cycles, documentation collection, and coordinate with relevant stakeholders. 
    • Tracking and documenting board and committee meetings. 
    • Inventory and maintenance of the company's centralized policy hub ensuring version control of policies, procedures, and other documents.
    • Liaison between internal stakeholders and external parties.
  • Supporting Legal, Finance, and Compliance for other operational needs.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in compliance, regulatory operations or licensing within cryptocurrency, fintech or other regulated financial service environments. 
  • Filings in NMLS and other state filing systems.
  • Experience coordinating payment licensing applications and filings such as US state MTLs and MU2 filings.
  • Experience communicating with regulatory agencies. 
  • Strong organizational discipline and project management, specifically with coordination between cross functional leaders and tracking timeline / deliverables
  • Crypto or fintech knowledge preferred
