How you will make an impact:

The Applications Engineering (AE) department is responsible for delivering complex custom systems that address challenging biopharmaceutical production process needs which are a key component of a rapidly growing business with a distinguished reputation, and as such, a serious dedication to getting all the details right for our clients is of utmost importance. Applications Engineers support clients throughout the world by overseeing the design of novel, efficient and cost-effective process solutions, implementing these solutions as a critical part of medicine manufacture.

This role is responsible for setting strategic direction, optimizing workflows, and developing scalable organizational structures to support a growing client base and project demand. The Senior Manager serves as a key leader in driving cross-functional collaboration, enhancing operational excellence, and ensuring that engineered solutions meet high-quality standards and cost-effectiveness. This individual will lead multiple AE teams, mentor subordinate managers and supervisors, and partner with senior leadership to support innovation and continuous improvement in the delivery of bioprocessing solutions.

  • Design and implement scalable structures and processes to effectively meet growing global demand for custom solutions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop AE team leaders, including but not limited to Managers and Supervisors overseeing multidisciplinary groups including engineers, drafters, technicians, and project coordinators.
  • Direct and support senior-level AE team members (e.g., AE Strategic Specialists) through larger, complex, high stakes, high priority and impact projects or strategic initiatives, ensuring departmental and organizational alignment and effective execution.
  • Drive regional strategic vision for the Applications Engineering (AE) organization ensuring alignment with corporate goals and while actively contributing to broader organizational strategy, cross functional planning, and decision-making beyond the AE function.
  • Review and interpret high-level departmental performance metrics to evaluate project outcomes, resource utilization, and alignment with strategic goals.

This is an on-site role based out of our headquarters in Camarillo, CA.

The skills and experience you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology or equivalent technical discipline from four-year college or university
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering within a highly regulated industry, ideally geared toward the pharmaceutical industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical management or leadership of cross-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

US BASE PAY SCALE $168,600 - $228,900

The base pay scale for this role is what Meissner reasonably expects to pay for the position although actual pay may vary from this scale depending on an applicant's experience.
