Octane is hiring a leader to own our CBR & FCRA risk governance program, overseeing credit reporting and dispute management end to end. This role is the resident Subject Matter Expert on CDIA/Metro 2®, FCRA, and Reg V, and holds full ownership of credit reporting policies, procedures, and workflows. The role directs monthly Metro 2® file creation, scrubbing, auditing, and submission across all four major CRAs, and leads root cause analysis to catch furnishing errors before they reach the bureaus. It also oversees Credit Bureau Dispute Management alongside the broader Complaints program, working with the existing team to resolve exceptions from Bankruptcy, Deceased Scans, Repossession, and Debt Sales through a mix of manual and automated processes. This person will serve as the primary CBR point of contact, partnering with Legal, Risk, Operations, and Engineering to ensure credit reporting compliance is accounted for across both new initiatives and existing processes and systems.

Responsibilities: 

  • Program Ownership & Regulatory Expertise
    • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on CDIA, Metro 2, FCRA, and Reg V guidelines, directly owning all credit reporting policies, procedures, workflows, and process mappings.
  • Data Furnishing & CRA Submission
    • Direct the end-to-end creation, data quality scrubbing, auditing, and submission of monthly Metro 2 data files across all four major Credit Reporting Agencies (CRAs).
  • Dispute & Lifecycle Management
    • Oversee Credit Bureau Disputes Management aligned with the broader Complaints program, maintaining complete lifecycle tracking and resolving data furnishing exceptions.
  • Data Integrity & Root Cause Analysis
    • Lead troubleshooting, system checks, and root cause analysis to identify, correct, and resolve data furnishing errors prior to reporting.
  • Downstream Integration
    • Oversee exception inputs from key collections and asset recovery processes, including Bankruptcy, Deceased Scans, Repossessions, and Debt Sales.
  • Team Leadership & SLA Performance
    • Manage, coach, and develop a team of Dispute Analysts to meet key performance indicators (KPIs), maintain dispute response SLAs, and oversee Quality Assurance (QA) audits.
  • Cross-Functional & Technical Alignment
    • Collaborate with technical and cross-functional teams to implement system enhancements, automation, and scalable controls that ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Maintain an issue inventory to drive continuous optimization of dispute workflows, data updates, and operational efficiencies.
  • Culture & Organizational Leadership
    • Champion company culture and core values across the department, driving change management and promoting cross-departmental collaboration.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree followed by 7+ years of professional experience at a Consumer Lending centric organization; leading a FCRA/Metro 2 related function.
  • 5+ years in a supervisory or leadership role while managing Line of Business Process requirements for Monthly FCRA file transmission.
  • Demonstrable experience working directly with FCRA Compliance and credit bureau disputes including enterprise level process management and oversight of related process outputs.
  • Experience working with consumer financial laws and regulations including but not limited to ECOA, TCPA, FCRA, TILA, UDAAP, FDCPA, etc.
  • Experience managing the eOscar dispute platform at an enterprise level.
  • Strong grasp of consumer loan underwriting, servicing, collections, and vendor relations with major Credit Reporting Agencies (CRAs), paired with the ability to independently manage processes against strict regulatory deadlines.
  • Skilled in analyzing large datasets for criteria compliance, with a firm understanding of software development concepts and hands-on experience using LoanPro.
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume work queues and multidisciplinary tasks, driving team performance while adapting seamlessly to changing software, guidelines, and processes.

Compensation: In addition to salary, Total Rewards include a stock option package, and benefits as outlined below. The role described above offers a base salary of $140,000 to $155,000. Your offer will be based on location, the alignment of your qualifications with the requirements of the job and internal equity.
