As the Senior Manager Decision Science, you will lead a team planning and building a broad spectrum of data-driven decision solutions.  These solutions include self-service dynamic dashboards, statistical analyses, real time predictions and prescribed actions from embedded ML algorithms, graph algorithms, generative AI and more. You will have the opportunity to work on projects across the customer lifecycle from prospecting customers to claims and across the different Hagerty products and services.

This role has an active part in planning and delivery of the analytic data roadmap working with other analytics leaders, data architecture, data engineering, and the analyst user community. You will be responsible for assessing BI and analytic tools to meet changing analyst and business needs, and facilitating training analysts on these tools. This will be a highly visible and influential role interacting with analytic, engineering, and business teams.

What you’ll do
 

  • You oversee a team of analysts that turn data into actionable insights through the application of appropriate scientific and quantitative methods.
  • You manage the identification, gathering, and enrichment of data to design and develop measures, metrics, features, and complex data sets for AI/ML, business intelligence, and other analytic projects.
  • You support the strategy and execution of enterprise data requirements to advance business intelligence, AI/ML, and other analytics across the enterprise.
  • You oversee a team of analysts that plan, design, develop, and deploy self-service business intelligence solutions that provide transparency and increased decision-making capacity to the business.
  • You ensure analysts produce code to enterprise standards for quality and documentation fit for production.
  • You oversee the design of data and analytic solutions to solve ambiguous and hypothetical business problems.
  • You oversee that reasonable measures are taken to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness of data and method of analysis for the task, problems and root causes are identified and solutioned.
  • In your role, you support Hagerty by making measurable contributions towards your department results and establishing short- to medium-term operational plans for your teams.
  • You make decisions that impact the achievement of results for your department.
  • You may manage a budget for your area of responsibility or elements of the budget.
  • You communicate with others both inside and outside of your job area, typically influencing colleagues on other teams and promoting cooperation with policies and procedures.
  • You interact with external stakeholders, like vendors or customers, on a regular basis for matters relating to your job area.
  • As a people leader, you drive your team’s effectiveness by making moderate to significant improvements to optimize systems, products, or processes to enhance broader performance.
  • The problems and issues you face are difficult and undefined, typically impacting multiple teams within a department.
  • You manage experienced individual contributors and may manage more junior-level people leaders.
  • You contribute to workforce and staffing plans for your area of responsibility.
  • You provide coaching and development to your direct reports and often have authority in personnel decisions, like hiring and promotion within your own area.

This might describe you
 

  • Bachelor's or higher degree.  Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • You have advanced knowledge and skills using statistical methods to derive insights from data, preparing model-ready data sets for use in AI/ML models, and interpreting the results of AI/ML models.
  • You have advanced industry experience with deploying a wide range of self-service BI solutions for business users using modern BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.
  • You have advanced knowledge and skills using SQL, and R or Python to query, combine,  transform, visualize, and analyze data.
  • You possess strong decision-making and critical-thinking skills.
  • You provide coaching and development to your direct reports and often have authority in personnel decisions, like hiring and promotion within your own area.

Other things to note

  • This role can be worked from any U.S. remote location
  • May require travel for quarterly events.
  • Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
