Overview
We are seeking an experienced Head of Integrity to lead a team responsible for ensuring that technology deliveries from AD/ADAS LoB meet the safety, security, and quality requirements of the specific application at Toyota. This role serves as the first line of defense for the business, ensuring that industry best practices are efficiently integrated into software development for AD/ADAS. The ideal candidate will work closely with system architects, the safety team, and other core tech ADAS teams to establish robust safety, security, and quality frameworks for AD/ADAS.
This role is critical for ensuring our ADAS solutions are seamlessly integrated into vehicles and meet the highest standards of safety and performance.
Responsibilities
Software Development Life Cycle:
- Develop AD/ADAS-specific standards that are in line with Toyota’s expectations on safety, security, and quality standards
- Innovate with industry safety and security standards ISO 26262, 21448, 21434, and 8800)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate functional safety, SOTIF, and cybersecurity into software design and development.
Development and Production Safety Case:
- Oversee safety case design, steering, and risk assessments to ensure the safe deployment of AD/ADAS software on test and production vehicles.
- Define safety assurance measures and ensure compliance with Automotive Safety requirements.
Safe and Secure Design and Architectural Consistency:
- Ensure AD/ADAS SW is robust against external threats, malfunctions, systematic errors, and performance limitations using safety by design/test/observation and other approaches.
- Maintain Architectural source of truth.
Software Quality:
- Develop state-of-the-art techniques to scale software quality, working directly with software developers and machine learning experts
- Oversee real-world testing, simulation validation, and formal methods to ensure system reliability and safety.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing safety team, fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
- Drive a culture of safety-first engineering by working with development teams, architects, and regulatory bodies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate functional safety, SOTIF, and cybersecurity into software design and development.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with the implementation of safety and security standards like ISO 26262, 21448, 21434, and 8800
- Proven track record with the release of safety-critical software for AD/ADAS
- Deep understanding of modern verification and validation techniques
- Hands-on experience with safety case design as well as steering via safety case
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in safety, security, and software quality
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate internal and external teams
- Ability to influence technical and executive stakeholders in safety-critical decision-making
- Familiarity with Machine Learning and building data-driven systems
- Experience working in multicultural teams and openness to various cultures
For positions based in Palo Alto, CA, the base pay for this position ranges from $161,000- $264,500 a year.
Your base salary is one part of your total compensation. We offer a base salary, short term and long term incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package. The total compensation offered to an employee will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and level.
