We’re seeking a forward-thinking, results-oriented communications leader who excels at execution and strategic collaboration to help shape the future of surgical robotics and digital surgery business. The Senior Manager, OTTAVA Communications will sit out of our Santa Clara, CA office location on a hybrid work schedule.

As Senior Manager, OTTAVA Communications for Johnson & Johnson MedTech’s Surgery business, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to create strategic communications programs that drive business outcomes.

Reporting to the Director, OTTAVA Communications, this role will elevate our innovation story across surgical robotics and advanced surgical technologies for Johnson & Johnson MedTech’s Surgery business.

This is a comprehensive communications role, covering employee and culture communications, executive communications, strategic messaging and narrative development, thought leadership, media relations and social media, and campaign activations. 

The Senior Manager, OTTAVA Communications will work closely with the Director to bring together R&D, clinical, medical, and business milestones to inform communications activations. 

This role will be required to build a deep understanding of surgery, technology development, clinical and medical data, and market opportunities that will inform an integrated global communications plan.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field (required).
 

Experience

  • 8+ years of professional experience in communications, marketing communications, public affairs, or related fields.Experience in healthcare, MedTech, robotics, or highly technical industries preferred 
  • Demonstrated experience creating high‑quality written and visual content across multiple formats.
  • Experience working cross‑functionally with matrixed teams and managing complex workflows.

Skills

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Familiarity with digital, social, and multimedia communication platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and influence without authority.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$142,000.00 - $244,950.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k))
 
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
 
Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year
Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
