The Senior Manager, Research + Insights will lead audience research and advertising effectiveness initiatives that help Outside better understand its audiences and demonstrate their value to advertising partners.

Partnering closely with Sales, Creative Strategy, Media Planning, Account Management, and leadership, this role will turn first-party, syndicated, and primary research into compelling audience stories, actionable insights, and measurement strategies that support revenue growth.

The ideal candidate combines strong research and analytical expertise with commercial instincts and excellent storytelling skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead audience research & insights: Analyze first-party, syndicated, and primary research to uncover audience behaviors, preferences, trends, and opportunities.
  • Support advertising sales: Partner with Sales and Creative Strategy on RFPs, proactive pitches, category narratives, and sales collateral that demonstrate the value of Outside’s audiences.
  • Own advertising effectiveness: Lead brand lift and other campaign measurement studies from research design and implementation through analysis, reporting, and client-ready recommendations.
  • Develop first-party audience insights: Analyze audience segments and onsite behavior to strengthen advertiser narratives, campaign reporting, and audience targeting opportunities.
  • Drive proactive research: Develop surveys, audience studies, benchmarks, and other research that identifies emerging trends and creates differentiated insights for Outside and its partners.
  • Tell compelling data stories: Translate complex findings into clear presentations, reports, and recommendations for clients, sales teams, and executive leadership.
  • Lead research partnerships: Manage key research and measurement vendors, budgets, contracts, and methodologies while evaluating new tools and capabilities.
  • Scale research capabilities: Build tools, resources, and best practices that make audience insights more accessible across the organization.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in audience research, advertising research, media insights, measurement, analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience within digital media, advertising, publishing, entertainment, or ad tech strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of quantitative research, survey design, audience measurement, and advertising effectiveness/brand lift methodologies.
  • Experience with syndicated audience research platforms such as MRI-Simmons, Comscore, or similar tools.
  • Experience analyzing first-party audience data and translating findings into actionable business and advertising insights.
  • Exceptional analytical, storytelling, presentation, and data visualization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex research into compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong cross-functional and project management skills, with experience partnering with Sales and other client-facing teams.
  • Familiarity with research, measurement, and analytics platforms such as Brand Metrics, Alchemer, Kantar, Permutive, Excel/Google Sheets, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools.
Preferred
  • Experience managing research or measurement vendors and budgets.
  • Experience integrating survey research with first-party behavioral or audience data.
  • Familiarity with digital advertising workflows, campaign measurement, audience segmentation, and emerging media consumption trends.
  • Experience building dashboards, self-service research tools, or AI-enabled insights resources.

What We Offer:

Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $95,000 to $125,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission. Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away, sick leave, and more.  This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors
