POSITION SUMMARY
As Senior Engineering Manager, you will provide strategic leadership and oversee the digital engineering function by managing a team of engineers, defining technical strategies and roadmaps, ensuring successful project delivery, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. You will lead an engineering team in an agile environment building solutions and working closely with Product and UX. Coordinates with stakeholders, allocates resources, drives technical excellence, and creates alignment between business goals and technical solutions to ensure continuous improvement of digital engineering capabilities within the organization. The key to the success of this position is having strong and innovative approach to problem solving, great technical leadership, excellent communication (written and verbal, formal and informal), flexibility, and a self-motivated working style with attention to detail on top of a Customer first mindset.

Expectations For The Role

  • Technical leader capable of designing and overseeing the build-out and operations of complex distributed systems at scale in a fast-paced digital organization 
  • Able to technically direct, support, and evaluate the value, ensuring we are building best-in-class solutions that can scale to meet our future needs
  • Monitor and optimize both team & system performance, identifying opportunities for enhancement and addressing any issues or bottlenecks.  Establish KPIs and OKRs that unlock quantitative insight so we can change processes with confidence
  • Lead a team from strategy through delivery in complex and highly visible engineering projects
  • Guides team’s work prioritization in alignment with our strategic objectives. Coach/guide engineers through pivoting as needed while remaining steadfastly focused on the overall objective
  • Collaborate closely with other technical teams (engineering, platform, design, security) to understand their expectations and develop solutions in accordance with appropriate guidelines
  • Establish effective relationships with partners and customers, ensuring that you understand their vision and can help them deliver on their goals
  • Proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate both internal and external risks.  Communicate clearly on progress, challenges, and opportunities to stakeholders, including presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences 
  • Recruit, manage, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering team while contributing to a positive and supportive culture, encouraging innovation, and driving a pragmatic balance of continuous improvement and effective value delivery
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development, analytics, and AI technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.

REQUIRED QUALIFICAITONS

  • 7+ years of software development experience building customer-facing applications
  • 5+ years of experience managing backend/frontend teams
  • 5+ years of experience in any of the following programming languages : Java/Angular 
  • 3+ years of experience working with highly available, large scale, high performing applications
  • 3+ years of experience with any of the following public cloud : GCP/AWS/Azure
  • 3+ years of experience with CI/CD - CircleCI, ArgoCD, GitHub actions
  • 3+ years of experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communications, organization, and time management skills.
  • Experience collaborating with architecture stakeholders to define and drive technical decisions
  • Experience leveraging generative AI tools to accelerate software development workflows 
  • Experience with large scale Pharmacy, Health applications is a plus

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$106,605.00 - $284,280.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
