About GameChanger:

We believe in the life changing impact youth sports have on and off the field. Sports encourage leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and confidence – important life lessons that have the power to propel our youth toward meaningful futures. We recognize that without coaches, parents, and volunteers, organized youth sports could not exist. By building the first and best place to experience the youth sports moments important to our community, we are helping families elevate the next generation through youth sports.

So if you love sports and their community building potential, or building cool products is your sport, GameChanger is the team for you. We are a remote first, dynamic tech company based in New York City, and we are solving some of the biggest challenges in youth sports today.

About the Role

GameChanger is looking for a Director, Strategic Insights to lead the development of the market, competitive, and business insights that inform the company’s most important strategic decisions. This role will serve as the center of excellence for strategic intelligence across the organization — translating complex market signals, customer behaviors, and competitive dynamics into clear insights that guide GameChanger’s growth and long-term strategy.

As a senior member of the Strategy team, you will partner closely with the Executive Leadership Team onsite at our NYC HQ and senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, Data & Analytics, and Business Development. You will shape how the company understands the evolving youth sports landscape, identify emerging opportunities and risks, and ensure leadership has the insights needed to make informed, high-impact decisions.

This role combines rigorous analysis and executive storytelling. You will report to the VP, Strategy, Operations and Impact and establish and lead GameChanger’s strategic insights function — building the frameworks, research capabilities, and intelligence systems that support company-wide planning and strategic decision-making.

What You’ll Do:

Establish and Lead Insights Center of Excellence

  • Own GameChanger’s market intelligence and research agenda, ensuring leadership has a clear view of industry trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities.

  • Lead primary and secondary research initiatives, including quantitative surveys, qualitative research, industry analysis, and market sizing.

  • Develop frameworks to systematically track competitors, new entrants, product innovation, and structural shifts across the youth sports and sports technology landscape.

  • Source and manage external research partners, data providers, and consultants to deliver high-quality strategic insights.

  • Build institutional knowledge of the youth sports ecosystem and adjacent industries to inform strategic decision-making.

Deliver Executive-Level Strategic Insights

  • Translate complex research, data, and market signals into clear insights and strategic implications for executive leadership.

  • Prepare executive-ready analyses, presentations, and strategic narratives that inform leadership discussions and planning processes.

  • Identify key risks, opportunities, and inflection points that could shape GameChanger’s long-term growth trajectory.

  • Provide leadership with ongoing perspectives on customer behavior, competitive positioning, and industry evolution.

Inform Company Strategy & Growth Decisions

  • Partner closely with the Strategy team to inform corporate strategy, product strategy, monetization strategy, and growth initiatives.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to GMs and business leaders, operating as an internal consultant to diagnose key business questions, design research and analysis, and deliver actionable insights that inform decisions.

  • Conduct customer segmentation, behavioral analysis, and needs assessments to guide strategic priorities.

  • Support long-range planning and strategic decision-making with data-driven perspectives on market opportunities, risks, and competitive positioning.

  • Provide insights that inform partnerships, business development opportunities, and potential strategic investments.

Build Organizational Insight Capabilities

  • Establish scalable systems and frameworks for market intelligence, competitive tracking, and customer insights.

  • Act as the company’s subject matter expert on market research and strategic insights.

  • Partner with Data & Analytics, Product, Marketing, and Finance to source, aggregate, and share out insights from across the organization.

  • Promote a culture of curiosity, rigor, and evidence-based decision-making across the organization.

  • Who You Are:
10–12+ years of experience in market research, corporate strategy, consulting, strategic insights, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex research and insights initiatives that inform senior leadership decisions.

  • Strong analytical capabilities with experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.

  • Exceptional ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights and compelling executive narratives.

  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and presenting insights to executive audiences.

  • Strong project management skills with experience managing research vendors and external partners.

  • High ownership mindset with the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.

Preferred:

  • Experience in consumer technology, SaaS, marketplace, or sports-related businesses.

  • Experience working within or alongside a larger enterprise parent organization.

  • Familiarity with syndicated research sources, market intelligence tools, and data visualization platforms.

Perks:

  • Work from our well-furnished, modern office in Manhattan, NY.

  • Unlimited vacation policy.

  • Paid volunteer opportunities.

  • Technology stipend - $4,000 every 2 years after your start to make sure you have the latest and greatest technology.

  • WFH stipend - $500 annually to make your WFH situation comfortable.

  • Monthly physical, mental, wellness & learning stipend offered through Holisticly.

  • Monthly lifestyle stipend offered through Fringe.

  • Full health benefits - medical, dental, vision, prescription, FSA, HRA, HSA, and coverage for family/dependents.

  • Retirement savings - Traditional and Roth 401K plans are offered through Vanguard, with an immediate company match.

  • Life insurance - basic life, supplemental life, and dependent life.

  • Disability leave - short-term disability and long-term disability.

  • Company paid parental leave - up to 20 weeks for birthing parents and up to 12 weeks for non-birthing parents.

  • Family building benefits offered through Progyny.

  • DICK'S Sporting Goods and their family of brands teammate discount.

The target salary range for this position is between $200,000 and $220,000. This is part of a total compensation package that includes incentive, equity, and benefits for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by several factors including experience, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We constantly review all teammate pay to ensure a great compensation package that is fair and equal across the board.
