About Fluidstack

We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it.

We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI.

We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!

How We Operate
  • Extreme ownership. Full autonomy. Own things end to end often taking on scope outside your core role without being asked to get things done.

  • Velocity. We drive everything forward as fast as possible.

  • First principles. Challenge every assumption. Zero analogy thinking, no egos, the best idea wins.

  • Love of the game. The frontier of AI is the most interesting problem of our time. We put in long hours at high intensity to push the frontier forward.

The Finance Team
  • Build and scale the tax function from scratch, across multiple international and state jurisdictions, before the company outgrows it. Entities, sites, and cross-border structures are multiplying faster than any tax playbook can keep up. The function, from income tax reporting to sales and use tax compliance on gigawatts of electricity and compute to the international structure holding it together, must be correctly built and efficiently scaled the first time around.

  • Own the full range of tax disciplines at a scale most practitioners never reach. Federal, international, state and local, and equity comp all converge on one business growing faster than the guidance anticipated. Reporting and first-principles work across every discipline must be accurate and timely.

  • Put tax on the critical path for hundreds of billions in capital. The financings and JVs powering 10s to 100s of GWs turn on partnership allocations, basis step-ups, withholding, and incentive credits that have to close in lockstep with capital and gigawatts coming online. Deals must be structured correctly and efficiently, not cleaned up after the fact.

Role Scope
  • Lead the quarterly and annual global income tax provision under ASC 740, calculating effective tax rate, deferred taxes, valuation allowances, and uncertain tax positions.

  • Prepare and review public-filings ready tax footnotes and disclosures, and reconcile return-to-provision differences across every tax account.

  • Oversee U.S. federal, state, international income tax, and indirect tax compliance, managing external tax providers and global advisors across multiple operating entities.

  • Own SOX internal controls over tax reporting and lead the company's response to IRS and state and local tax authority examinations and information requests.

  • Partner with FP&A and Treasury to forecast cash taxes and model the tax impact of strategic business decisions.

  • Oversee and streamline the global and state and local indirect tax compliance process.

What We're Looking For
  • The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.

  • You've built your 10+ year tax career inside a Big 4 firm or a large multinational corporate tax department, where you owned the technical work rather than just reviewing it.

  • You are a Certified Public Accountant.

  • You've personally run ASC 740 income tax provisions end to end, including effective tax rate, deferred tax, valuation allowance, and uncertain tax position calculations, under audit scrutiny.

  • You've prepared tax disclosures that made it into a filed 10-K or 10-Q and held up under external audit review.

  • You've led a tax authority examination, IRS or state and local, from the first information request through resolution.

  • You've managed SOX controls over a tax function and can point to specific controls you personally designed or remediated.

  • Bonus: Master's in Taxation. Large ERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle). Indirect tax expertise. Hands-on tax automation or technology implementation. Experience mentoring or building out a tax team.

We are committed to pay equity and transparency.
