About the Role:
The Senior Manager, Total Rewards and Operations will serve to major needs within the Quizlet People team: first, function as a day to day compensation lead owning the design, implementation and ongoing management of Quizlet’s compensation and equity frameworks — including base salary, bonus/incentives, and equity grants/option programs. And second, as the leader of the overall Total Rewards function owning (in addition to compensation) benefits, people operations, and people tools and systems.
This role partners closely with HR leadership, Finance, Legal, and senior business leaders, to ensure that our total rewards programmes support Quizlet’s growth trajectory, culture and strategic priorities. This isn't just a maintenance role – you are helping to build the engine that allows Quizlet to scale. You will have the autonomy to redesign frameworks and the visibility to work directly with the Board and C-Suite on the most sensitive and impactful areas of the business.
In this role, you will:
- Compensation Philosophy: Evolve and maintain Quizlet’s global compensation philosophy, ensuring it remains competitive in a fast-moving tech market
- Executive & Board Support: Support the content preparation for Compensation Committee meetings; help design and manage executive compensation packages and long-term incentive plans in partnership with the Chief People Officer and CEO
- Equity Management: Oversee the strategy and administration of equity grants and stock programs, partnering with Finance and Legal on dilution modeling and cap table impacts
- Annual Cycles: Architect and execute the annual focal review process, including base pay increases, bonus payouts, and refresh grants
- Market Intelligence: Lead benchmarking initiatives and participation in salary surveys (e.g., Radford and Pave) to ensure data-driven decision-making
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of two focused on Benefits and People Operations, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
- Benefits & Wellness: Oversee the design, renewal, and budget management of global health and wellness programs, ensuring they reflect our culture and employee needs
- Systems & AI Optimization: Act as the architect for our People Tech stack (HRIS, Performance, etc.). You will lead the charge in integrating AI and automation to drive operational excellence and reduce manual overhead
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure all programs meet global regulatory requirements (FLSA, EEO, GDPR, etc.) and maintain rigorous data integrity across all systems.
- Strategic Partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor to Finance, Legal, and Senior Leadership on the total cost of workforce and organizational design

What you bring to the table:
- 8+ years in HR/People Ops, with at least 5 years focused specifically on Compensation and Total Rewards in a high-growth tech environment.
- Compensation Expertise: Proven track record designing and managing compensation and equity programmes in private, high-growth companies. Experience with executive compensation strategies and implementation.
- Equity Fluency: Deep understanding of various equity vehicles (ISOs, NSOs, RSUs) and the mechanics of private vs. public company compensation and compensation committee related workstreams including grant strategies, vesting, refresh grants.
- Analytical Rigor: Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills are a must. You should love data and be able to tell a story with it. Comfortable working with large datasets, building predictive models for equity burn, compensation competitiveness, internal equity.
- Project Management and Process Design: project management skills, to design frameworks AND roll them out, scale programmes, build robust processes. Strategic thinker who is also operationally oriented.
- Tech Stack Efficiency and Management: Experience selecting and implementing HRIS/Comp tools (e.g., Paylocity, Pave, Sequoia). A proactive interest in leveraging Generative AI for HR efficiency is a major plus.
- Leadership: Proven track record of managing direct reports and influencing cross-functional stakeholders and functions.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex issues into structured frameworks and concrete action plans, able to clearly articulate compensation philosophy, equity value, and impact to both executive and non-executive audiences

Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a starting base salary of $175,000 - $225,000, depending on location and experience, as well as company stock options
