Transactional messaging is a critical part of the customer experience, providing timely, relevant communications that support account management, product engagement, purchases, subscriptions, security, and service notifications.
The CRM Operations team is responsible for building and operating Yahoo's transactional messaging ecosystem across all business units. We are looking for a Senior Marketing Specialist, Transactional Messaging Operations to manage the execution of customer communications across email, push, SMS, and other messaging channels. This role partners closely with Product, Engineering, Legal, Customer Strategy, and business stakeholders to ensure messages are accurate, compliant, technically sound, and delivered reliably at scale.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving operational challenges, translating business requirements into technical implementations, and managing complex messaging programs across multiple product teams.
Responsibilities
Build, test, and launch transactional customer communications across email, push, SMS, and other messaging channels supporting Yahoo business units.
Translate business and product requirements into executable CRM campaigns, including audience configuration, dynamic content, personalization, and message logic.
Manage the implementation and maintenance of triggered and event-driven messaging programs, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and operational excellence.
Partner with Product Managers, Engineering, Customer Strategy, Legal, Localization, and Analytics teams throughout the messaging development lifecycle.
Validate payloads, trigger logic, personalization fields, and data mappings to ensure messages render correctly and deliver the intended customer experience.
Perform comprehensive QA across content, dynamic logic, links, localization, rendering, and deployment configuration prior to launch.
Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and coordinate with cross-functional partners to resolve messaging defects.
Monitor operational health of transactional messaging programs and recommend process improvements that increase efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
Support experimentation and optimization efforts by implementing tests and assisting with post-launch analysis.
Maintain documentation including implementation guides, QA checklists, operational runbooks, and launch documentation.
Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and launch readiness across multiple concurrent initiatives.
Minimum of 5 years of experience executing CRM, lifecycle, or transactional messaging programs across email, push, SMS, or similar customer communication channels.
Experience supporting event-driven or triggered messaging programs and working with engineering teams to implement customer communications.
Strong understanding of CRM operations, message deployment workflows, QA processes, and release management.
Experience validating payloads, customer attributes, event data, and personalization logic.
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS with the ability to troubleshoot rendering and email coding issues.
Experience with CRM and messaging platforms such as Zeta, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, Iterable, Adobe Campaign, or similar technologies.
Familiarity with personalization scripting (Liquid scripting equivalent) preferred.
Understanding of APIs, event-driven architectures, customer data models, and marketing technology ecosystems.
Experience using SQL, Looker, Tableau, or similar tools to validate campaign audiences, troubleshoot data, or support operational analysis is preferred.
Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple complex launches simultaneously while maintaining high quality standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, project management tools, and creative collaboration platforms.
BA/BS degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

The compensation for this position ranges from $65,625.00 - $136,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
