Logos Space is a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite system purpose-built to serve the connectivity needs of the commercial enterprise users and government users. We will help fill an important gap in the market, providing resilient, high-performance satellite-based connectivity services to enterprise and government customers worldwide. Business customers have contracts with agreed-upon performance standards for their broadband, and Logos will build these capabilities into the system from the beginning. Speed and reliability are the foundation of the system. Logos is designed to extend cloud and data center network connectivity anywhere in the world to fixed, seaborne, and airborne terminals.

About the Role:

The Senior Modem Engineer role is a DSP & Wireless communication system design role that encompasses conceiving, planning, partnering and executing the waveform designs, protocol stack designs and the analysis, fixed point design, implementation, integration and test for the whole of Logos payload, terminal and ground systems.

Hence, a big part of the role is to give definition and meaning to this function in the Logos context, sizing it properly, simplifying it when necessary. This person works with the team leadership in reasoning through implications of various hardware & firmware platform choices and then making the final decisions that would give the best modem & protocol stack outcomes at the fastest program speed. The engineer is responsible for solving problems relating to satellite dynamics across all modem states across a wide range of payloads.

The Modem engineer should be prepared to work and thrive in a fast moving environment where you are comfortable taking vague ideas and turning them into solutions. We are seeking engineers who like to solve very hard problems!

Responsibilities:
  • Work with the leads in waveform, stack and modem platform decisions and implementation, integration and subsystem testing for all payloads across all the parameter space

  • Responsible for engineering production worthy PHY and MAC designs - both transmit and receive sides - for payloads with varying requirements Logos Space Services Inc.

  • Responsible for bringing great ingenuity to waveform and receiver designs to operate various payloads across a wide range of operating conditions

  • Responsible for working with team leads in conceiving, planning and building all the labs needed to scale to the PHY & MAC subsystem testing of the Logos Space baseband system in both the transmitter and receiver hardware

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer science or a STEM field with significant relevant experience in system design, PHY and MAC layer designs and mapping onto Hardware and Firmware platforms

  • Experience working in a startup context

  • Significant experience in satcom and / or terrestrial wireless system design, integration and test

  • Experience working with software or hardware systems through the entire product life cycle. Starting from conceptual designs and trade-offs through detailed design, development, manufacturing, integration, testing, deployment, and operations in a team setting.

  • Experience in designing complex DSP, transmitter, receiver algorithms - for PHY and / or MAC layers - in SatCom, 3GPP, WiFi or Cable modem contexts

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s or Ph.D degree in Engineering or Computer science or a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with significant relevant experience in DSP, PHY and MAC designs

  • 6+ years experience with wireless systems design, integration and test

  • Experience doing above in fast paced startups

  • Experience in delivering products to production
