The Role

Latent is the leading clinical AI platform for medication access, partnering with over 45 health systems to streamline prior authorizations, 340B compliance, and medication appeals. We’re accelerating time-to-therapy for patients while reducing the administrative burden on the clinicians and staff who care for them.

We’re looking for a sharp, flexible Senior People Operations Generalist to help us build the foundational programs that help our small team and the company scale. This is an early and highly visible role on our People team, in which you’ll own the day-to-day operations of HR, including benefits, onboarding, immigration, compliance, and more. You’ll work closely with team leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to build the systems and programs that foster an incredible employee experience.

This role is based in San Francisco. It will be a great fit for someone who thrives in ambiguity, takes initiative, brings order to chaos, and is genuinely excited by the idea of building People infrastructure at a company that’s on a clear trajectory.

What You’ll Do

Benefits & Perks Administration

  • Administer and continuously improve our benefits programs, serving as the primary point of contact for day-to-day employee support and vendor operations.

  • Support benefit enrollments alongside our broker, including employee communications, vendor coordination, and data accuracy in our HRIS.

  • Measure and iterate on employee feedback to continue to hone a competitive and highly utilized benefits and perks program.

Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle

  • Own the onboarding experience from offer coordination through the first 90 days, partnering with the Talent, IT, and Finance teams, as well as hiring managers, to ensure every new hire feels welcomed and enabled to ramp up quickly.

  • Manage all employee lifecycle transactions in our HRIS (Rippling): onboarding, job changes, terminations, leaves of absence, and other milestones.

  • Build and run a seamless offboarding process, including documentation, hiring manager support, and exit interviews.

Compliance & HR Operations

  • Ensure Latent remains compliant with federal and state employment laws, including FMLA/CFRA, ADA, FLSA, and pay transparency requirements. Build predictable workstreams and roll out communications to ensure proactive preparation for compliance needs coming up.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records; own HR data integrity across our systems.

  • Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and the employee handbook as the company evolves.

  • Partner with team leadership, legal counsel, and outside advisors on employment matters, immigration support, and classification questions.

Employee Relations & Culture

  • Serve as a trusted, approachable resource for employees and managers on HR/policy questions and workplace concerns, escalating to team leadership as appropriate.

  • Support accommodations requests with discretion and consistency.

  • Help design and run employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, programs, and rituals, that support and scale the best parts of Latent’s culture as we grow.

What We’re Looking For
  • 4–7+ years of HR generalist or people operations experience, ideally at a fast-growing startup (Series A–D).

  • Solid working knowledge of California and New York state employment law and federal HR compliance requirements.

  • Hands-on experience with a modern HRIS. Rippling and Workday experience is a strong plus.

  • People analytics for basic decks and readouts, experience building dashboards is another plus.

  • Experience administering benefits programs, including open enrollment, and leaves of absence.

  • Experience writing and iterating upon policies, including a multi-state employee handbook.

  • Experience supporting an immigration and visa sponsorship program for foreign nationals working in the United States.

  • Comfort operating as a true generalist: you’ve done the full range of HR work, not just one slice of it.

  • Strong experience collaborating and leading change management with cross-functional stakeholders and managers, including Finance, Legal, and Business Operations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; you can explain a complex policy clearly and handle a sensitive conversation with composure.

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

What Will Enable You for Success at Latent
  • You operate with high agency. You don’t wait to be asked. You spot gaps, propose solutions, and follow through without needing hand-holding.

  • You build trust quickly. Employees come to you because they know you’re both discreet and genuinely helpful. Managers rely on you because your judgment is sound.

  • You balance process and pragmatism. You know when to build a rigorous system and when to move fast with something good enough for now. You seek feedback and iterate.

  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity. Latent is growing rapidly. Things change, priorities shift, and you treat that as an opportunity rather than an obstacle.

  • You care about the mission. Healthcare is complex and high-stakes. You’re motivated by working at a company where the work you do directly affects patients’ outcomes.

  • You are a strong collaborator and employee advocate. You build consensus, seek and solution employee feedback, and mitigate against biases.

  • You’re a clear communicator. Whether you’re explaining a new policy, delivering difficult feedback, or launching a new program, you’re precise and considerate.
