About Kira

Kira is transforming how people learn by using AI to empower teachers to deliver personalized learning at scale. We’re backed by top investors and driven by a team that is deeply passionate about using technology to change education.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to play a hands-on role in designing the core experiences that power Kira. As a senior IC, you’ll own end-to-end design for critical product areas, from early research and concept exploration through polished execution. You’ll work directly with Product and Engineering to bring new features to life, leveraging prototyping and user testing to validate and refine ideas.

This role is best suited for someone who loves crafting exceptional user experiences, thrives on solving complex problems in EdTech, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design for high-impact features.

  • Create flows, wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready designs with a focus on clarity and usability.

  • Use interactive prototyping to explore ideas and test with learners, educators, and creators.

  • Partner with Product Managers and Engineers to define problems, shape solutions, and ensure smooth handoff.

  • Conduct and synthesize user research and usability studies to inform design decisions.

  • Contribute directly to our design system, ensuring consistency and scalability.

  • Deliver pixel-perfect designs while balancing speed, iteration, and thoughtful detail.

  • Present design concepts to stakeholders with clear rationale and storytelling.

  • Stay curious about AI, design tools, and EdTech trends, bringing fresh ideas into our workflows.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in product/UX design, with at least some exposure to EdTech or SaaS platforms.

  • Strong portfolio that shows end-to-end product design and measurable impact.

  • Proficiency in Figma (and comfortable with systems like ShadCN, Radix, or similar component libraries).

  • Advanced prototyping skills (Figma, Framer, Protopie, Principle, or similar) for research and iteration.

  • Strong understanding of user research and testing methods, and the ability to apply insights directly into design work.

  • Detail-oriented craft paired with strong systems thinking.

  • Excellent communication skills to explain design choices and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners.

  • Bachelors Degree in Design, Human Computer Interaction, or a related field

What We Value at Kira

  • Learner-first design: Empathy for students, educators, and creators drives our work.

  • Craft & clarity: We value thoughtful, accessible, and high-quality design.

  • Prototype to learn: We move quickly from idea to prototype to insight.

  • Collaboration: Designers work closely with Product and Engineering to deliver together.

  • Continuous improvement: We’re curious, experimental, and always refining how we work.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and equity. For applicants in the US, the salary range for this role is $120,000 - $180,000, depending on relevant considerations like professional experience and related skillsets.

  • Medical, dental, vision and life insurance, including a medical insurance plan with 100% coverage of employee premiums.

  • Flexible PTO policy and company holidays

  • DoorDash credit for lunch daily
Background Check: Kira will make a conditional job offer in line with local, state and federal laws, and a subsequent criminal, education, and employment history background check will then be issued.
Equal Employment Opportunity Employer: At Kira, we are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy (including childbirth, lactation and related medical conditions), national origin, age, physical and mental disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information (including characteristics and testing), military and veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by applicable law. • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
