Our Story and Purpose

Linden Lab develops platforms that empower people to create, connect, and thrive through transformative virtual experiences. Since our founding in 1999, we have been at the forefront of the creator economy, building durable platforms that support limitless imagination, self-expression, and human connection..

In 2003, we launched Second Life, a vibrant, user-driven virtual world that has grown into a living global community. Hundreds of thousands of people actively spend time there, building relationships, expressing themselves, and creating meaning together. With over two billion user creations and a flourishing $650 million economy, Second Life enables people not only to connect, but for those who choose, to build real livelihoods through their creativity.

Unlike traditional social media, Second Life fosters sustained, positive connection between strangers. It offers mobility, agency, and community to people whose real-world circumstances may limit their options, and it creates space for belonging, collaboration, and shared purpose. For many, it is not just a platform, but a place where they can participate fully and authentically.

The same principles that shape our communities also guide how we work together. We believe our strength lies in diversity of perspectives, experiences, and ideas. Our values are rooted in organizational health, strengths-based leadership, and the belief that collaborative teams are stronger than individuals.

At Linden Lab, your work directly shapes how real people connect, create, and build meaningful lives online. You will be part of a thoughtful, mission-driven team working on technology with real social impact and uncommon longevity. Whether you are building innovative tools or fostering a welcoming community, you will find a place to belong, grow, and do work that matters. We invite you to come as you are.

Your Mission

This role follows a Monday through Thursday in-office schedule at our San Francisco headquarters, with Fridays designated as a remote workday.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to own complex, high-impact client product areas end-to-end and drive measurable outcomes across our Desktop App, and Mobile App surfaces. You’ll translate company and product vision into clear strategy, roadmaps, and execution, shaping customer experience, adoption, engagement, and monetization across one of our most visible product domains.

This is an individual contributor role with no people management responsibilities, reporting to the SVP, Product. In this role, you will lead cross-functional teams with significant autonomy, balancing customer value, technical feasibility, and business impact while driving multiple initiatives from discovery through delivery and iteration.

How You’ll Grow With Us

At the Lab, you'll experience the best of both worlds: the stability of an established company with over 20 years of expertise and the dynamic momentum of a startup driven by continuous progress. You'll have the unparalleled opportunity to forge meaningful relationships, design impactful systems, and craft strategies that shape the future of virtual experiences.

Our vibrant in-office environment in San Francisco is designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and ingenuity. With spaces purpose-built for brainstorming, team building, and spontaneous conversations, you'll find endless opportunities to engage and grow. We believe in the power of in-person connections to cultivate a strong sense of community and inclusion, ensuring that your ideas are valued, your contributions celebrated, and your impact deeply felt every day.

The Impact You’ll Drive
  • Lead cross-functional teams through all phases of frontend and backend product development, owning end-to-end strategy and execution across Desktop App, and Mobile App.
  • Shape product vision and strategy with product, design, engineering, and marketing, defining and driving client product roadmaps aligned to company objectives from discovery through delivery and optimization.
  • Drive weekly executive product reviews, communicating progress, surfacing tradeoffs, and presenting recommendations to support timely decisions.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Program Management, Performance Marketing, and Strategic Insights to deliver measurable outcomes, including collaboration on APIs and platform capabilities to optimize Second Life’s backend infrastructure.
  • Own and optimize core client metrics including DAU, MAU, concurrency, retention, monetization, and acquisition using data-driven decision-making, experimentation, A/B testing, and user research.
  • Skill up to use AI models like Claude Projects to improve the Product process.
  • Identify and promote opportunities to leverage AI-powered tools and automation to streamline product workflows, improve analysis and experimentation, and increase the efficiency of cross-functional teams.
  • Apply iterative development practices to continuously improve product quality and operational efficiency while developing deep fluency in Second Life’s features, use cases, and community culture.
  • Communicate product initiatives and results across the company, including to leadership, while operating in a highly visible, executive-sponsored product area with sustained investment.
  • Work in a hybrid model from our San Francisco office in a fast-paced startup environment.
How You’ll Shape Our Future

At Linden, we celebrate all dimensions of diversity, including diversity of experience. Candidates will be most successful if they bring:

  • Typically 8+ years of Product Management experience delivering consumer apps across platforms, with proven ownership of products through full lifecycle delivery in social, gaming, virtual world, or creator-driven environments.
  • Strong ability to define strategy, roadmaps, success metrics, and growth plans while leading cross-functional teams without direct authority in ambiguous environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to leadership and driving alignment across partners.
  • Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in experimentation, A/B testing, metrics-driven development, and optimization.
  • Solid understanding of modern software development lifecycles, client platforms (mobile and desktop), APIs, backend systems, and internal tools such as GitHub, with experience improving operational efficiency.
  • Capability with AI tools (e.g., LLMs, copilots, automation) to improve product discovery, prototyping, analysis, documentation, and team efficiency.
  • Ecosystem mindset, able to balance the needs of creators, residents and platform health with business goals when making product decisions.
  • Experience owning acquisition, engagement, retention, and monetization goals in partnership with marketing and data teams.
  • Collaborative, self-directed, and organized problem-solver, comfortable managing competing priorities and healthy conflict.
  • Willingness to explore AI-driven methods for product development, process improvement, and customer experience, with familiarity in client-side software and virtual world environments.

If you don’t meet every requirement listed for this role, we still encourage you to apply. Too often, the confidence gap or imposter syndrome keeps exceptional candidates from taking the leap—and we don’t want that to hold you back. If you believe in our mission and in your ability to make an impact, we want to hear from you!
