Docker Desktop is used daily by millions of developers around the world who rely on it for application development. The Desktop Platform and Virtualization teams are responsible for the virtualization stack, shared components, and infrastructure (CI and internal tooling). The goal of the teams is to provide an enterprise ready experience that delights developers with stability, speed, and transparent operation.

The successful Sr Product Manager candidate is comfortable taking ownership of a complex area and driving it forwards. They have a technical background and intuitively understand the pains that developers experience. They work well with business, marketing, and other stakeholders across the organization and with engineers and the designer in their team. They are also good at being customer facing, working with some of our largest enterprise customers. Finally, they are passionate about developer tooling and engaging with developers.

Responsibilities:
  • Define and execute the product vision and strategy for Docker Desktop’s platform and enterprise functionality.

  • Collaborate with peers in Engineering and Design to build impactful and user-centric experiences.

  • Prioritize tasks strategically, manage integrations across teams, and ensure seamless delivery.

  • Clearly communicate and align stakeholders across the organization around shared goals and measurable outcomes.

  • Engagement with the open-source community within the container ecosystem to ensure we continue to support the needs of the community.

Qualifications:
  • Strong technical foundation with a computer science background and/or hands-on development experience (ideally 3+ years), enabling you to deeply understand developer needs

  • Proven track record of 3+ years in product management for technical products, with particular expertise in developer tools and workflows

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences, from engineers to business stakeholders

  • Proactive, hands-on approach to product quality, including willingness to participate in testing and validation

  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven product development.

  • Familiarize yourself deeply with Docker Desktop and related tools.

  • Build relationships with your immediate team and key stakeholders.

  • Ship your first small improvement to the product.

First 90 days:
  • Engage regularly with users and customers to gain valuable insights.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Docker’s product landscape.

  • Formulate and begin executing an initial 6-month product vision and roadmap.

  • Deliver more impactful changes to our product.

One-Year Outlook
  • Deliver measurable strategic value aligned with your established vision and roadmap.

  • Continuously enhance product experiences, directly impacting millions of developers worldwide.
