What is Verse?

Energy markets are more volatile than ever. Rapid electrification and the rise of AI are driving unprecedented demand for power, while energy costs continue to rise across the globe. For the world’s largest energy buyers, managing energy has never been more complex or more critical.

Verse helps these organizations manage complex power portfolios with confidence by unifying energy data, planning, forecasting, and operations in one tool. Our Energy Cost Intelligence platform, Aria, brings together energy, finance, and operations teams with real-time, finance-ready intelligence—replacing spreadsheets and consultants with precision across the entire energy lifecycle. Built by an expert team of energy buyers, data scientists, and engineers, Verse enables faster, smarter energy decisions that reduce risk and lower energy costs.

The Role

We're seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead the development and delivery of Verse's groundbreaking Energy Storage Platform. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role where you'll coordinate a cross-functional team of 20+ engineers, data scientists, and specialists to build industry-leading battery optimization software that maximizes profitability for distributed energy resources.

You will own the product roadmap for the Energy Storage product - a critical new platform responsible for the real-time control and revenue optimization of distributed battery assets. You’ll work closely with customers, Engineering, Data Science, Design to translate customer requirements into intuitive software experiences that power battery assets across North America.

This is a high-impact role at the intersection of energy markets, real-time systems, and enterprise software — ideal for someone who thrives on technical complexity and wants to shape the future of grid-scale energy storage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end product vision and roadmap for the BESS platform, spanning site controls, cloud optimization, operational interfaces and customer-facing modeling tools proposal workflows.
  • Define product strategy that balances customer commitments, market opportunities and technical feasibility.
  • Conduct user research with operators, sales engineers, energy analysts, and customers to deeply understand workflows, pain points, and evaluation criteria.
  • Write detailed product requirements documents (PRDs) with user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications.
  • Partner with Engineering to scope features, prioritize the backlog, and make trade-off decisions across multiple workstreams.
  • Collaborate with Data Science to scope and deliver battery and solar simulation capabilities, including dispatch modeling, revenue stacking, and scenario analysis.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to ensure that product outputs — proposals, financial models, tariff comparisons — meet the standards required to close enterprise deals.
  • Monitor product performance through analytics, customer feedback, and sales team input, iterating rapidly to improve conversion and confidence.

What We're Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of product management experience.
  • Direct experience building software in an electricity context, such as a BESS platform, distributed energy management system.
  • Experience working on technically complex platforms — real-time systems, data-intensive applications, IoT, or industrial software.
  • Familiarity with distributed energy resource economics — battery storage, solar, or related technologies — including how utility tariffs and incentive structures affect project viability.
  • Strong technical foundation — comfortable with system architecture, APIs, data pipelines and collaborating deeply with engineers and data scientists
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience writing PRDs, presenting to executives, and engaging with customers
  • Track record of shipping products from concept through launch and iteration in an agile environment.

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Understanding of optimization, forecasting, or machine learning as applied to energy systems.
  • Experience at early-stage startups building products from zero to one.
  • Hands-on experience with battery or solar simulation tools, dispatch modeling, or energy storage optimization.
  • Understanding of utility rate structures including TOU, demand charges, capacity markets, NEM/NEM 3.0, and interconnection requirements.
  • Experience building or working within sales engineering, CPQ (configure-price-quote), or proposal automation tools.
  • Familiarity with BESS or solar project development workflows — from initial site screening through customer proposal and close.
  • Technical degree (CS, Engineering, Physics, or Energy Systems) or equivalent hands-on experience.
