We are hiring a Senior Product Manager to own Product Lifecycle Management on the Avathon platform. Manufacturers already run Teamcenter, Windchill, 3DEXPERIENCE or Oracle Agile. We do not replace those systems. We connect them to ERP, MES, supply chain and asset data in our Computational Knowledge Graph and use AI to do what they cannot: trace an engineering change to its downstream impact, compare BOMs across systems, find similar parts, and support new product introduction. Your job is to turn this into a product with a clear roadmap. This is a product management role in Product Engineering, not a customer delivery or design role.

You Will

Product Strategy and Roadmap

  • Own the vision, roadmap and priorities for PLM on the platform: BOM management, engineering change impact, digital thread, part search and NPI support
  • Know the market. Understand Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE, Oracle Agile, Aras and Arena, and where an AI layer on top of them adds value
  • Decide which PLM connectors and data models are core product and which stay as customer configuration
  • Define how PLM data feeds Planning, Logistics and asset maintenance on the platform

Customer and Market Discovery

  • Spend real time with engineering, configuration management and manufacturing teams at customer sites
  • Work with our Forward Deployed Design Leads to turn what they learn in deployments into reusable product requirements
  • Work with sales and solution architects on positioning, demos and competitive deals
  • Track adoption and value, such as change cycle time, BOM sync latency and time to clear an ECR

Execution

  • Write clear requirements and acceptance criteria for engineering and AI science
  • Run sprint planning and release reviews with the engineering lead
  • Make trade-offs on scope, quality and timing, and communicate them clearly to leadership
  • Build product documentation, release notes and enablement for the field
You'll Have
  • 8+ years in product management, with at least 4 years owning a PLM product or module
  • Experience at a PLM vendor such as Siemens (Teamcenter), PTC (Windchill or Arena), Dassault Systemes, Oracle (Agile or Fusion PLM), Aras, SAP PLM or Propel, or leading PLM at a large manufacturer
  • Deep understanding of BOM management (EBOM, MBOM), engineering change, variants, effectivity and configuration management
  • Understanding of how PLM integrates with CAD/PDM, ERP, MES and quality systems
  • Experience shipping AI or ML driven product features to enterprise customers
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, defense, semiconductor equipment or industrial manufacturing
  • Strong written communication and the ability to work across engineering, sales and customers
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science. MBA or MS is a plus

Compensation

Pay Range: $140k - $180k salary annually. Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Location: This role is not remote. Candidates must be based in the Bay Area, CA and are expected to report to our Pleasanton office 5 days a week.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
