About the Team:

The State Nutrition team builds and supports software used by state agencies involved in the administration of child nutrition programs. These programs rely on software to support compliance, reporting, and funding-related workflows.
The product area has a broad functional scope and supports a range of user needs. As the product continues to evolve, this role will help ensure priorities are clear and work is planned and delivered with consistency.
The team works closely with engineering and cross-functional partners across the organization.

About the Role:

We are hiring a Senior Product Manager to help shape the vision and direction of our State Nutrition solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the product suite evolves in ways that are grounded in client needs, aligned with business goals, and deliver meaningful value.
This role is client-focused at its core. You will spend time understanding how clients use the products today, where they encounter challenges, and what outcomes matter most to them. That understanding will inform product strategy, prioritization, and delivery decisions across the State Nutrition portfolio.
As a senior member of the product organization, you will own the end-to-end product lifecycle for the State Nutrition product suite. This includes discovery, requirements definition, prioritization, roadmap development, and ongoing delivery in partnership with engineering and cross-functional teams.
The role requires strong judgment, the ability to balance competing priorities, and comfort making decisions in a complex product environment.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Own the State Nutrition product suite, including existing functionality and future planning.
  • Assess product capabilities, backlog health, and client needs to inform priorities and direction.
  • Define and maintain product priorities aligned to client outcomes, business goals, and delivery capacity.
  • Build and manage a product roadmap that balances ongoing work with longer-term direction.
  • Serve as a voice of the client by engaging regularly with customers and developing a strong understanding of their needs and challenges.
  • Contribute to product strategy by identifying opportunities for improvement, alignment, and differentiation within the State Nutrition portfolio.
  • Maintain awareness of the broader market and competitive landscape to inform product decisions.
  • Introduce and maintain practical product management practices that improve clarity, alignment, and execution.
  • Own and refine the product backlog, making thoughtful tradeoffs across competing demands.
  • Partner closely with engineering, QA, design, support, implementation, and leadership teams to ensure successful delivery.
  • Communicate priorities, decisions, risks, and progress clearly to stakeholders.
  • Provide collaboration and informal mentorship to other product managers as appropriate.

What We Are Looking For:

  • 5 or more years of experience as a Product Manager working on SaaS products, with ownership of established or evolving products.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex product areas with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to own prioritization and backlog decisions in environments with incomplete information and changing demands.
  • Strong client-facing experience, including regular engagement with customers to understand needs, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams to balance product goals with delivery realities.
  • Comfort operating in environments with varying levels of structure and helping bring clarity and focus over time.
  • Ability to make thoughtful tradeoffs and clearly communicate decisions and rationale to stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A practical, outcome-oriented approach to product management and problem solving.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and judgment.

What Will Make You Stand Out:

  • A demonstrated sense of ownership, with experience carrying work from problem definition through delivery.
  • Curiosity about how products are used in practice, and a tendency to ask thoughtful questions to understand client needs and constraints.
  • Comfort making decisions and taking responsibility for outcomes and tradeoffs.
  • The ability to bring clarity and momentum to ambiguous situations.
  • A practical, steady approach to problem solving.
  • A collaborative working style and the ability to build trust with cross-functional partners.
