Job Description:

Senior Product Software Engineer, Android

Job Summary:

Technology is at the heart of Disney's past, present, and future. Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization of engineers, product developers, designers, technologists, data scientists, and more – all working to build and advance the technological backbone for Disney's media business globally.

The team marries technology with creativity to build world-class products, enhance storytelling, and drive velocity, innovation, and scalability for our businesses. We are Storytellers and Innovators. Creators and Builders. Entertainers and Engineers. We work with every part of The Walt Disney Company's media portfolio to advance the technological foundation and consumer media touch points serving millions of people around the world.

Here are a few reasons why we think you'd love working here:

Building the future of Disney's media: Our Technologists are designing and building the products and platforms that will power our media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come. Reach, Scale & Impact: More than ever, Disney's technology and products serve as a signature doorway for fans' connections with the company's brands and stories. Disney+. Hulu. ESPN. ABC. ABC News…and many more. These products and brands – and the unmatched stories, storytellers, and events they carry – matter to millions of people globally. Innovation: We develop and implement groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms, and solve complex and distinctive technical problems.

Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

Job Summary:

Disney's Identity Client Experience team is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to build the login, registration, and account experiences that every one of hundreds of millions of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ users passes through. You will build these experiences across phones, tablets, and TVs, and run the experiments that make them better — small changes in conversion and friction matter enormously at Disney's scale. The other half of our charter is the governance platform behind privacy and consent, age verification, parental controls, and Kids Mode, which keeps every interaction compliant by default and consistent across brands. Our highly collaborative group works in Kotlin, ships shared SDKs consumed by the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ application teams, and partners daily with product, data science, design, legal, and privacy. We value strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and a drive to deliver measurable results.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Build identity experiences for Android mobile and Android TV using Kotlin and the Android SDK.
  • Design, build, and ship A/B tests and phased rollouts on login flows serving hundreds of millions of users.
  • Build features behind feature flags and remote configuration so variants can be delivered, adjusted, and rolled back independently of the Android release train.
  • Build telemetry to measure and monitor the success of each feature, and partner with product and data science on metrics, guardrails, and experiment readouts.
  • Develop and maintain shared Android SDKs consumed by the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ application teams.
  • Understand the internals of Android and how to debug and diagnose device issues.
  • Maintain a high level of code quality with each feature delivery by including unit and integration tests, and perform regular code reviews to drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Create and update documentation across the software development lifecycle, including integration guidance for partner application teams.

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training or work experience
  • Build Android mobile and Android TV experiences in Kotlin, with a strong command of the Android SDK, application lifecycle, and UI with Jetpack Compose and/or the View system
  • Ship features behind feature flags or remote configuration, and run A/B tests or phased rollouts in a production application
  • Build telemetry to measure and monitor the success of each feature
  • Understand Android internals and how to diagnose device-specific issues
  • Deliver features with a high level of code quality, including unit and integration tests
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional partners across product, data science, design, legal, and privacy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience owning experiments end to end — hypothesis, instrumentation, rollout, readout, and ship/no-ship recommendation
  • Hands-on experience with an experimentation or feature-flagging platform (LaunchDarkly equivalent)
  • Experience working on login, registration, onboarding, or flows where conversion and friction are the primary measures of success
  • Familiarity with Android TV / Amazon Fire TV development
  • Experience maintaining a large, modularized codebase
  • Hands-on experience using agentic coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini in Android Studio, or equivalent) as a regular part of your workflow — beyond inline autocomplete
  • Experience with privacy, consent, or regulatory compliance work on mobile (GDPR, CCPA, COPPA)
