Senior Program Finance Analyst

The Senior Program Finance Analyst is the primary finance partner to program managers and owns the financial performance of a portfolio of defense programs from proposal through development, production, execution, and closeout. The role encompasses Estimates at Completion (EACs) and Estimates to Complete (ETCs) development, forecasting, margin and cash analysis, risk identification, and decision support, while also contributing to the annual operating plan, company forecasts, executive reporting, and long-range planning.

This individual works across program management, engineering, operations, contracts, supply chain, and accounting to challenge assumptions, translate program execution into financial impact, and drive timely decisions that improve both program and company performance.

Why Join Us

This role offers direct access to program and executive leadership, broad ownership across program finance and company planning, and the opportunity to build practical, scalable finance capabilities within a growing defense company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary finance business partner to program managers, owning the financial performance of assigned defense programs from proposal development through execution and closeout.

  • Develop and maintain bottoms-up Estimates at Completion (EACs) and Estimates to Complete (ETCs), ensuring forecast assumptions reflect current technical, schedule, contractual, and execution plans.

  • Forecast and analyze bookings, backlog, revenue, margin, cash flow, funding, and working capital; identify risks and opportunities and recommend corrective actions.

  • Analyze cost and schedule performance, investigate variances, challenge assumptions, and translate program execution changes into clear financial impacts.

  • Partner with program management, engineering, operations, contracts, supply chain, and accounting to improve program performance and support timely business decisions.

  • Prepare and present recurring program financial reviews to program and executive leadership, clearly communicating performance drivers, forecast changes, risks, opportunities, and required actions.

  • Support proposal pricing and capture activities by evaluating cost, schedule, contract, profitability, cash, and execution assumptions.

  • Partner with accounting to support accurate revenue recognition under ASC 606 and compliance with government contracting requirements and corporate financial controls.

  • Support the annual operating plan, monthly and quarterly forecasts, and long-range plan by consolidating program outlooks and analyzing company-level revenue, margin, headcount, operating expenses, and cash flow.

  • Develop financial models, dashboards, KPIs, and scenario analyses that connect program execution and operating performance to company financial outcomes.

  • Improve finance processes, models, systems, and reporting tools to increase forecast accuracy, visibility, efficiency, and scalability.

What Success Looks Like

  • Program forecasts are accurate, current, and grounded in executable technical, schedule, contractual, and operating assumptions.

  • Financial risks and opportunities are identified early, quantified, communicated clearly, and paired with actionable recommendations.

  • Program managers and executives receive concise, decision-ready insights that improve program outcomes and forecast accountability.

  • Program outlooks roll efficiently into company forecasts, operating plans, and long-range plans.

  • Finance models, processes, and reporting scale with the company while improving visibility, speed, and control.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Five or more years of progressive experience in program finance or program controls supporting DoD, aerospace, or other U.S. government programs in a contract-driven environment.

  • Demonstrated ownership of program financial performance, including EAC and ETC development, revenue and margin forecasting, variance analysis, cash flow, funding, and financial risk management.

  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM), integrated cost and schedule performance, funding analysis, baseline management, or comparable program controls disciplines.

  • Strong understanding of government contract structures and their financial implications, including firm-fixed-price (FFP), cost-reimbursement, and time-and-materials (T&M) contracts.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and demonstrated experience building financial models, forecasts, and executive-ready analyses.

  • Ability to operate independently in an evolving environment, establish practical processes, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and build trusted partnerships with program managers and business leaders.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to technical and executive audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS, GAAP, and ASC 606.

  • Experience supporting proposal pricing, capture efforts, and strategic business development initiatives.
