The Advanced Hardware Manufacturing Operations (AHMO) team is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Quality Engineer to develop systems, methodologies, quality processes, and best practices to guarantee high-quality products. You will support projects developed by cross-functional teams where quality results, teamwork, and initiatives measure individual performance. A successful candidate must be a self-starter, passionate about technology and quality, have the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail-oriented, and be able to work independently.

In this role, you will:

  • Be the main Quality point of contact between Program Management, Design Teams, Test Engineering, Supplier Quality, Corporate Quality, Manufacturing, and Risk Management for serialized production of sensor suites incorporating components such as LiDAR, camera, and radar.

  • Play a fundamental role in supporting the setting up of procedures, instructions, and processes that will allow Zoox to align with the international standards for Quality Systems (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and similar)

  • Lead Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and guide teams to create quality documents including detailed Process Flow Diagrams, Process Failure Mode Analysis (PFMEA), Inspection Reports, Dimensional reports, Functional Test Reports (FTR’s), Process Certs, Material Certs, Rework instructions, Temporary Deviation Orders (TDO’s), Packaging Reports, Part Submission Warrants (PSW’s) in various quality databases including ETQ, Jira, RGBSI, 3DX, and other Internal Quality Logs

  • Develop Incoming Quality Control (IQC), In Process Quality Control (IPQC), and outgoing Quality Control (OQC) requirements and set metrics for analyzing performance

  • Work closely with the Test Engineering team to document the testing activity and to develop the end of line test process.

  • Collaborate with engineering, metrology, and Manufacturing to understand ideal performance requirements and metrics. 

  • Hold MRB (Material Review Board) meetings with key stakeholders to determine the disposition of on-hand units in quarantine and drive NC/CAPA closure

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar required (Master’s preferred)

  • 8+ years of proven progressive manufacturing/design quality experience setting up and sustaining new complex serialized electro-mechanical manufacturing lines (Automotive, Robotics, Aerospace, Complex Capital Equipment)

  • Comfortable multitasking in a start-up-like environment and ability to make risk-based decisions in ambiguous situations in a fast-paced environment

  • Thorough knowledge of QMS and quality control fundamentals

  • Superb knowledge of applied statistical analysis using Minitab or similar software

  • Strong expertise in interpreting mechanical drawings using GD&T methodologies

  • Self-starter with strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle tight deadlines and manage competing demands effectively with.

  • Ability to travel domestically and abroad up to 15%

Bonus Qualifications

  • ASQ CQE/CQA/Certified 6-Sigma Green or Black Belt 

  • Experience in sensors such as LiDAR, camera, or sensor assembly inspection using CMMs

  • Experience setting up a QMS from scratch (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 13485 standards)
