Position:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Research Associate / Associate Scientist to join the Biotherapeutics group and support antibody drug development programs. The successful candidate will independently design and execute antibody binding and immunoassay experiments, generate high-quality data, and maintain rigorous experimental documentation in a collaborative industry research environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently design, perform, analyze, and troubleshoot antibody binding experiments using SPR (Surface Plasmon Resonance) and BLI (Bio-Layer Interferometry) platforms, including hands-on operation of Biacore, Octet, or Gator instruments, to characterize antibody–antigen interactions, binding kinetics, and antibody binning/epitope competition
- Perform FACS-based binding assays to evaluate antibody binding to cell surface targets and support functional characterization
- Develop, optimize, and execute ELISA assays in multiple formats (e.g., direct, indirect, sandwich, competitive) to support antibody drug development and characterization
- Perform data analysis and visualization using GraphPad Prism; interpret results and clearly communicate findings to project teams
- Maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized experimental records in electronic lab notebooks
- Collaborate with scientists and cross-functional team members to advance biotherapeutics programs
- Provide additional support for antibody drug development efforts as needed, including assistance with protein expression, purification, and other antibody characterization activities
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on laboratory experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical industry setting – level commensurate to experience
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with antibody binding and characterization assays, including SPR (Biacore), BLI (Octet or Gator), ELISA, and associated data analysis
- Hands-on experience with flow cytometry/FACS-based binding assays for antibody characterization
- Proficiency in GraphPad Prism for data analysis, curve fitting, and visualization
- Strong data analysis, documentation, and organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Experience with analytical characterization techniques, including HPLC-SEC, HPLC-HIC, and SDS-PAGE
- Experience with protein thermostability analysis (e.g., thermal shift/DSF or related methods)
- Experience with molecular cloning, protein expression, and protein purification
- Experience with antibody engineering (e.g., affinity maturation, humanization, Fc engineering, or related approaches)
- Familiarity with antibody discovery and biotherapeutics development workflows
Expected Salary Range: $107,000 - $120,000
We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there is sometimes flexibility on job level and responsibilities. Compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity, and location.
