Perplexity is looking for an experienced Senior Revenue Accountant to join our small team revolutionizing the way people search and interact with the internet. The Finance and Accounting team at Perplexity is playing a critical role in defining and driving strategic and financial processes across the company and is looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual who can prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be working closely with the Revenue Accounting Manager to build out our revenue accounting processes and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Own the revenue-related month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely recognition of subscription and usage revenue in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Review customer contracts, partner agreements, and non-standard terms to determine appropriate revenue treatment and document accounting conclusions.
  • Prepare and reconcile revenue-related schedules, including deferred revenue, contract assets/liabilities, and partnership referral/reseller fees.
  • Oversee the accuracy of customer billing, invoicing, and payment application across subscription and enterprise accounts.
  • Collaborate with Growth, Legal, and Product to evaluate new pricing models, referral arrangements, and new products for accounting implications.
  • Work cross-functionally with the likes of Legal and Data teams to obtain pertinent documentation and data to support business initiatives.
  • Assist with the ongoing Netsuite implementation with regard to data accuracy and data migration, customization of workflows, automation of monthly processes and post-migration system testing/UAT.
  • Support the audit preparation process including compiling supporting documentation, reconciliations and schedules, and delivering requests in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA or equivalent certification is preferred but not required.
  • 5+ years of combined experience in public accounting and in a corporate revenue accounting role.
  • Hands-on experience with subscription billing systems (e.g., Stripe, Zone Billing, Orb) and ERP platforms (NetSuite preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, specifically ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and ASC 340-40 (Contract Costs).
  • Experience with SQL or strong desire to learn.
  • Excellent communication skills, as frequent interaction with both internal and external stakeholders will be required.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with NetSuite software preferred.

The cash compensation range for this role is $125,000 - $160,000.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above

Equity: In addition to the base salary, equity may be part of the total compensation package.
