Lead the technical sales process by conducting discovery calls, building demo environments, creating technical collateral, and guiding customers through integration and deployment for Nextdata OS.
The summary above was generated by AI

The future of data is autonomous. Nextdata OS makes it real. Our platform is built for the challenge of creating and sharing autonomous data products at scale, giving developers a new, responsible way to deliver data that is portable, secure, and ready for use anywhere.

We imagine a world where AI, ML, and analytics run on trustworthy, self-protecting data—across organizations, technologies, and most importantly, across boundaries of trust.

Our mission is to transform how data is created, shared, discovered, and used—making it connected, fast, and fair.

Nextdata OS is designed for data developers, users, and owners to treat data products as first-class citizens, with trust built in from the start. We embrace the reality that data is complex and messy: models go stale fast, ownership spans trust boundaries, storage lives on many platforms, and usage spans many modes. Most importantly, data cannot protect itself.

Past approaches have tried and failed to solve this—often creating brittle systems that are hard to scale and impossible to trust. We’re here to reimagine the data world with you.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Senior Sales Engineer to lead the technical side of our sales motion—from discovery through demo and proof-of-concept. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in early-stage environments, combines deep technical knowledge with consultative sales acumen, and can tailor complex data architecture solutions to each customer’s unique needs.

As our first dedicated Sales Engineer, you’ll work closely with the Head of Revenue and CEO to shape how we engage with prospects. You’ll own technical conversations, build demo environments, and develop solution architectures that help prospects see the transformative potential of Nextdata OS.

This role is remote but limited to candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead technical discovery calls and understand customer architecture, pain points, and success criteria

  • Showcase Nextdata OS through customized demos, tailored storytelling, and clear articulation of product value

  • Build and manage demo environments that simulate real-world data scenarios

  • Own and deliver PoCs, partnering with prospects to prototype integrations and data product workflows

  • Create technical sales collateral, including diagrams, solution briefs, and architecture overviews

  • Respond to technical assessments and security reviews, guiding buyers through integration and deployment conversations

  • Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Engineering to inform roadmap and improve technical GTM assets

  • Represent Nextdata externally in webinars, briefings, and field events as a technical voice of the company

What You Bring
  • 7+ years in technical roles (Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Data Engineer)

  • 3+ years of customer-facing experience selling to enterprise data teams

  • Proficiency with Python, SQL, Spark, and familiarity with GenAI tooling and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)

  • Strong grasp of modern data infrastructure (data lakes, warehouses, orchestration, governance)

  • Familiarity with Data Mesh, data product thinking, and distributed data architectures

  • Ability to build PoCs quickly, with an eye for product impact and usability

  • Exceptional presentation skills: you can command a room, simplify the complex, and adapt to your audience

  • Strong customer empathy and consultative selling approach—comfortable digging into architecture and business context

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with a bias toward action

Bonus Points
  • Experience at a high-growth startup or scaling a technical sales motion from the ground up

  • Experience with AI/ML platforms, MLOps, DataOps or developer platforms

  • Cloud and data engineering certifications

  • Public speaking or thought leadership experience in data infrastructure or architecture
