The RoleCapco is seeking a Senior Security Specialist to support a major financial services client in developing and evolving their Web Application Firewall (WAF) strategy and target operating model. This role is ideal for a highly experienced cybersecurity professional with deep expertise in network security, firewalls, and enterprise security architecture.
You will work closely with client stakeholders across security, infrastructure, architecture, and operations teams to help define scalable security capabilities, strengthen governance models, and improve operational effectiveness across critical security domains.
What You’ll Do- Lead the development of a strategic WAF operating model aligned to enterprise security objectives and regulatory expectations
- Assess and enhance current-state network security and firewall capabilities across complex enterprise environments
- Partner with architecture and engineering teams to define secure design principles and implementation standards
- Provide subject matter expertise across network security, firewall governance, segmentation, and security architecture
- Deliver actionable recommendations, stakeholder presentations, and strategic roadmaps for security transformation initiatives
- Extensive experience in cybersecurity, with strong expertise in network security, firewalls, and enterprise security architecture
- Proven experience developing or supporting WAF strategies, governance frameworks, or operating models within large organizations
- Strong understanding of security controls, threat mitigation approaches, and infrastructure security best practices
- Experience working within regulated industries such as insurance, banking, or financial services
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience with leading WAF technologies such as Akamai, F5, Cloudflare, Imperva, or AWS WAF
- Familiarity with Zero Trust principles and modern security operating models
- Knowledge of cloud security architecture across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM, or equivalent
- Previous consulting experience delivering strategic cybersecurity initiatives for enterprise clients
- Deliver high-impact technology solutions for Tier 1 financial institutions

The salary range for this position is listed below. Additionally, this position may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary/variable bonus payment.
