Welcome to the Agentic Commerce Era

At Commerce, our mission is to empower businesses to innovate, grow, and thrive with our open, AI-driven commerce ecosystem. As the parent company of BigCommerce, Feedonomics, and Makeswift, we connect the tools and systems that power growth, enabling businesses to unlock the full potential of their data, deliver seamless and personalized experiences across every channel, and adapt swiftly to an ever-changing market. We believe in harnessing AI responsibly to unlock new possibilities, and we’re looking for individuals who use it intentionally to solve problems, accelerate outcomes, and expand what’s possible in their role. Our purpose is to help businesses confidently solve complex commerce challenges so they can build smarter, adapt faster, and grow on their own terms. If you want to be part of a team of bold builders, sharp thinkers, and technical trailblazers who shape the future of commerce, this is the place for you.

The Senior Social Media Manager owns the organic social media across our family of brands — Commerce, BigCommerce, Feedonomics, and Makeswift — plus social support for select members of our leadership team.

This is an ownership role, not a support role. It sets the strategy, builds the calendar, makes the content, publishes it, and answers for the numbers. Partners with Creative, PR, Demand Gen, Content, and Product Marketing teams, but it shapes and owns the Social Media program.

The person who does well here is a strategist who is also fast with their hands. They can build a quarter-long narrative for our brands, and can also turn a keynote clip into a live post the same afternoon without waiting on anyone.

What You'll Do

Strategy And Planning

  • Own a documented organic social strategy for each brand, with a clear point of view on what each channel is for and which audiences it serves (customers, prospects, partners, analysts, candidates, employees).
  • Maintain a rolling four-week content calendar covering every brand and channel, extended and refreshed weekly, visible to stakeholders.
  • Set and defend the content mix: executive video, customer stories, product and platform news, events, recruiting, and reactive commentary.
  • Bring a quarterly plan to leadership that connects social activity to brand, demand, and communications goals.
  • Work alongside a new social selling agency we will deploy

Content Creation And Publishing

  • Write and edit for social: captions, threads, short-form video scripts, and executive posts that hold each brand's distinct voice.
  • Produce your own assets. Use Canva, CapCut, or similar to make images and cut short-form video so that routine content ships without waiting on a design queue. You'll partner with Design on higher-craft, campaign-level work and on reusable templates for recurring post types.
  • Build repeatable content series and consistent visual formats rather than one-off posts.
  • Publish across LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, adapting format and framing to each platform rather than cross-posting. You will have a point of view on what content should go on each channel.
  • Monitor and evaluate additional or emerging channels and make recommendations about where we should activate.

Speed On Moments that Matter

  • For events, launches, and known milestones, have content and creative prepared in advance so posts can happen in the moment.
  • Cover live moments such as keynotes, events, internal all-hands, offsites, etc. yourself and capture raw video and photos to capitalize on those moments and momentum quickly.
  • Monitor news, industry reports, and cultural moments for places our brands and executives can credibly add something.

Executive And Employee Social

  • Draft, schedule, and manage social content for select senior leaders.
  • Identify commentary opportunities where an executive perspective lands better than a brand post.
  • Run the employee advocacy program end to end: recruit participants, supply content people actually want to share, and grow participation.

Measurement

  • Own the numbers. Define the KPIs that matter per channel and per brand, and report monthly on what performed, what didn't, and what you're changing as a result.
  • Identify top-performing posts each month and use format testing to make deliberate decisions rather than posting on habit. More volume is not the goal; engagement and impact are.
  • Use Sprout Social, Google Analytics, and potentially additional tools to inform reporting.

Brand Safety And Standards

  • Every post gets a human read for accuracy, relevance, messaging alignment, and voice before it goes out. Attention detail is a must.
  • Uphold brand standards across all social touchpoints, monitor for social media policy issues, and partner with PR and Community on crisis response.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years in social media strategy and content creation, in-house or agency, with B2B tech experience preferred.
  • You've owned a program, not just a queue. You've set the agenda somewhere rather than executing someone else's calendar.
  • You are genuinely online. You understand LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and YouTube as distinct cultures, not as distribution endpoints, and you know how audiences get built.
  • A strong, versatile writer who can move between brand voice and executive voice without flattening either.
  • Hands-on with short-form video and design tooling such as CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci, Canva, or equivalent. You can shoot on a phone and cut something good.
  • Comfortable with analytics and honest about them. You can walk into a room, say a campaign underperformed, and explain what you're doing differently.
  • Organized under real load. Multiple brands, multiple calendars, competing stakeholders, and you don't lose the thread.
  • Proactive by default. You surface the problem and the proposed fix before someone else notices the gap.
  • An effective communicator with executives, sales, designers, partners, and customers.
  • Based in Austin and able to be in the office at least three days a week.

Nice To Have:

  • Experience in e-commerce, B2B tech; social support for named executives; running an employee advocacy program; managing interns or junior contributors.

Pay Transparency: $110,000 - $150,000

How We Use AI Here:

You are expected to use AI tools well: research, ideation, first drafts, repurposing, versioning, and reporting summaries. Using them makes you faster and we want that.

You are also the last line of defense. Nothing published should read as machine-written. No generic phrasing, hollow enthusiasm, or copy that fills space without saying anything. Every AI-assisted piece gets edited by you for originality, accuracy, voice, and confidentiality before it ships. The standard is simple: a reader should get something out of the post — information, utility, entertainment, or a real reason to act — independent of what we want from them.

Compensation Transparency

The national base salary range for this role is posted above in this job post.
