We are looking for a Senior Architect to lead design and integration of a next-gen data center operations platform. Focus: unifying BMS, DCIM, CMMS, and related critical systems. Heavy emphasis on proven technical leadership and real-world data center / mission-critical systems exposure. Tech stack is still flexible (modern languages/patterns valued over any single framework).

Ideal for candidates who have architected or integrated OT/IT systems in data centers, hyperscale, colocation, or large enterprise facilities environments.

Location:  LATAM 100% Remote. Working hours are based on the US Pacific Time Zone.

About Us:

Abstra is a fast-growing, Nearshore Tech Talent services company, providing top Latin American tech talent to U.S. companies and beyond. Founded by U.S.-bred engineers with over 15 years of experience, Abstra specializes in sourcing skilled professionals across a wide range of technologies to meet our clients’ needs, driving innovation and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define reference architecture and integration strategy for a unified data center management platform.
  • Design robust connections between BMS, DCIM, CMMS, and adjacent systems (SCADA, IoT, analytics).
  • Establish standards for scalability, reliability, security, and 24/7 mission-critical performance.
  • Lead architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and drive cross-functional alignment.
  • Evaluate vendors and emerging tech; run proofs-of-concept; balance build vs. buy.
  • Translate operational pain points (energy efficiency, predictive maintenance, incident response) into scalable solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8–10+ years systems/software architecture experience, including 5+ years in data center operations, critical infrastructure, or industrial OT environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership: led architecture for complex multi-system integrations; mentored senior engineers; influenced technical direction across teams.
  • Hands-on experience developing or integrating BMS, DCIM, and/or CMMS platforms (or very close analogs) in production.
  • Strong distributed systems & integration skills (APIs, event-driven architectures, high-availability design, time-series data).
  • Deep knowledge of data center fundamentals: power, cooling, capacity planning, environmental monitoring, and operational workflows.
  • Excellent communicator who bridges technical and operational stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience with major platforms (Schneider EcoStruxure, Siemens, Nlyte, Modius, IBM Maximo, etc.).
  • Background in hyperscale/colocation operators or enterprise mission-critical facilities.
  • Familiarity with IoT protocols, digital twins, or AI/ML for facilities optimization.
  • Modern stack exposure (Node.js, Rust, Go, Python, cloud-native patterns)

What We Offer:

  • Flexible working hours and remote work options.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • A collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • The chance to work on impactful projects with a talented team.
  • Excellent compensation in USD.
  • Hardware and software setup (mandatory).
