About us:

Parabola is a workflow builder that makes it easy to organize and transform messy data from anywhere—even PDFs, emails, and spreadsheets—so that forward-thinking teams can automate the work they thought would always be manual.

Teams at fast-moving companies like Brooklinen, On Running, and Flexport use Parabola to save hundreds of hours and finally take on the projects that used to feel out of reach. Whether it’s reconciling inventory across multiple 3PLs, auditing invoices, or manually exporting the same report every Monday, Parabola gives teams the power to automate it—all without needing engineering support.

Parabola is backed by OpenView Partners, Matrix Partners, Thrive Capital and more.

About the role:

As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer on our growing team, you’ll develop new features, reinforce our technical foundation, and build off a unique flow-based calculation engine.

What you'll be doing:

  • Collaborating with a small-but-mighty group of engineers with a wide array of backgrounds and areas of expertise.

  • Implementing new product functionality from start to finish in consultation with product managers: generating your own tech plan, reporting on progress, and building tests + end-customer validation as you go.

  • Consulting with customer facing teams and our customers themselves to solve unique problems and find out where our product should grow next.

  • Utilizing AI tools (we mostly use Cursor and Claude Code!) to improve your process and efficiency.

  • Writing performant Typescript and Python code across our stack

  • Implementing the logic behind the steps that make up Parabola flows, as well as genericizing shared logic.

  • Optimizing our services for scalability, stability, and observability as our customer base grows and our product becomes more sophisticated.

  • Helping our team define processes and practices that will serve us for years of growth and success.

What (we think) you'll need to do it:

  • You have 5+ years of full-stack experience working in a team-based, high-uptime, continuously-delivered codebase.

  • You’re not afraid to ask for help, and you’re happy to give it, too.

  • You care about the craft of engineering, and you’re dedicated to making sure your work is stable, secure, and maintainable.

  • You’re an enthusiastic communicator who can join a large team, or bring your own self-direction on smaller teams that have less product direction.

  • You have experience with relational databases, REST APIs, and OOP principles.

  • Experience working with AI/LLMs professionally--either building an AI-powered tool or using AI tools to augment your work/impact

  • You're excited to join a hybrid team and work out of our SF or NYC office ~3 days a week.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience working in dynamic high-growth organizations.

  • Rich interests and can bring a unique perspective to our team

  • Experience writing Python, Typescript, React, Redux, or Node.js in a professional setting

Salary Range: $180,000 - $200,000

This salary range represents the minimum and maximum for this role based in San Francisco and New York. The salary given for this position is dependent on multiple factors, including years of experience, interview performance and anticipated responsibilities of the role. Our base salary is one component of Parabola’s competitive total package, which also includes equity and premium health and wellness benefits.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
