C1 is the first AI-native identity security platform that protects every identity: human, non-human, and AI. With powerful automation, platform-level AI, and out-of-the-box connectors, it centralizes access visibility, enforces fine-grained controls, enables just-in-time access, and automates user access reviews across all apps. It’s easy to use, quick to deploy, and trusted by enterprises like DigitalOcean, Instacart, Ramp, and Zscaler.

The Role

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build the internal tooling that enables the rest of the business to operate efficiently. You'll own the systems, apps, automations, and data tooling that our go-to-market, operations, finance, and support teams rely on every day. This is a high-leverage role: the software you ship won't be sold to customers, but it will multiply the productivity of nearly every team at the company.

You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business to understand where time is lost to manual work, then design and ship pragmatic solutions — from internal dashboards and apps, to integrations between our SaaS systems, to the data pipelines and platform tooling that make everything reliable. You'll have a lot of autonomy and a direct line to the impact of your work.

AI is central to how we expect this role to deliver leverage. We're looking for an engineer who already builds with AI — both using AI coding tools to ship faster, and embedding AI and LLMs into the internal tools they create. This is a hands-on requirement, not a buzzword: candidates should be ready to show concrete examples of AI-powered work they've built.

What You'll Do
  • Internal apps & dashboards: Design and build internal applications and dashboards that give teams across the company self-service visibility into the data and workflows they need.

  • Automation & integrations: Connect our SaaS systems and APIs, and build reliable automations that eliminate manual, repetitive work across go-to-market, operations, finance, and support.

  • Data tooling: Build and maintain the pipelines, reporting layers, and internal data access that make business data trustworthy and easy to use.

  • Platform & infrastructure: Own the internal platform and developer experience — deploy tooling, shared services, and the foundations that let internal tools ship quickly and run reliably.

  • Partner with the business: Partner directly with stakeholders to scope problems, prioritize ruthlessly, and ship solutions that deliver measurable leverage.

  • Build with AI: Apply AI and LLMs to internal tooling — automating workflows, building copilots and assistants, and using AI coding tools to ship more, faster.

  • Raise the bar: Set standards for security, reliability, and maintainability in internally built software — fitting for an identity security company.

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping production systems end-to-end.

  • Strong full-stack ability: comfortable building both backend services/APIs and functional internal UIs and dashboards.

  • Experience integrating third-party APIs and SaaS platforms, and building automations and data flows between systems.

  • Solid grounding in data: SQL, building pipelines, and modeling data for reporting and internal access.

  • Cloud and deployment fluency — you can stand up, deploy, and operate the services you build.

  • A pragmatic, business-minded approach: you optimize for impact and time-to-value, and you communicate clearly with non-engineering stakeholders.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and ownership — you can take a loosely defined business problem and drive it to a shipped solution.

  • Demonstrable AI experience: Hands-on experience building with AI — using AI coding tools in your daily workflow and integrating LLMs/AI APIs into the software you ship. You should be able to demonstrate this in our process (see below).

Show Us Your AI Work

This role expects real, hands-on experience with AI, so we ask candidates to show it rather than just claim it. As part of the process, be ready to share one or more of the following:

  • A project, demo, or repo where you integrated AI/LLMs into a tool or workflow you built.

  • Examples of how you use AI coding assistants in your day-to-day development.

  • A short walkthrough — live or recorded — of an AI-powered feature you shipped, including the problem, your approach, and the impact.

We care about practical results and good judgment in where (and where not) to apply AI, not just familiarity with the latest tools.

Nice to Have
  • Experience building internal tools or business systems at a high-growth SaaS company.

  • Familiarity with identity, access management, or security tooling.

  • Experience with low-code/internal-tool frameworks (e.g., Retool) alongside custom development.

  • Exposure to common GTM and ops systems (CRM, billing, support, data warehouse).

Why This Role

This is one of the highest-leverage engineering roles at the company. You'll see the direct impact of your work in how fast the rest of the business can move, you'll have broad scope across the full stack, and you'll help shape how a security-first company builds and operates its internal systems.
