Design, implement, and deploy large-scale mapping and localization systems (offline management and online loading) in C++ and Python. Provide efficient runtime map query interfaces for perception, prediction, and planning. Improve mapping/localization CI, watchdogs, and event mining. Collaborate cross-functionally and with operations on data collection, preprocessing, labeling, testing, and analysis.
PlusAI is a Physical AI company pioneering AI-based virtual driver software for factory-built autonomous trucks. Headquartered in Silicon Valley with operations in the United States and Europe, Plus was named by Fast Company as one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies. Partners including TRATON GROUP’s Scania, MAN, and International brands, Hyundai Motor Company, Iveco Group, Bosch, and DSV are working with Plus to accelerate the deployment of next-generation autonomous trucks. If you’re ready to make a huge impact and drive the future of autonomy, Plus is looking for talented individuals to join its fast-growing teams.
As software engineer for mapping & localization for self-driving vehicles, you will work on developing and deploying large scale map systems including offline management and online loading. You will also support efficient map query in runtime for other modules– like perception, prediction and planning, with the goal of improving online and offline data collection and analysis of mapping/localization systems and mapping/localization CI systems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy large scale map systems including offline map management and online map loading (both in Python and C++).
- Support efficient map query interface in runtime for other modules like perception, prediction and planning.
- Improve online mapping/localization watchdog and event mining system.
- Improve mapping/localization CI system.
- Work in a cross-functional environment to understand the requirements and performance of other system components such as perception, prediction, planning, control, simulation and data infrastructure.
- Work with the operations team to communicate requirements around data collection, preprocessing, labeling, testing, and analysis.
Required Skills:
- Clear understanding in classic data structures and algorithms.
- Experience in designing and implementing large real-time C++ systems and infrastructure.
- Familiar with maintaining and creating CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong proficiency in C++.
- Experience in offline large-scale map management/deployment.
- Strong written and verbal communications.
- Self-motivated, comfortable operating without direct supervision.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in online multi-tiles large scale real-time map loading.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and testing localization algorithms, such as Lidar/Visual SLAM, and Kalman filtering.
- Experience in deep learning perception systems like spatial transformer, self/cross attention, object/lane detection/tracking.
