In this role...

As a Senior Software Engineering Manager within Ford Pro Intelligence, you will lead a team of talented software engineers in developing and scaling innovative solutions for our commercial customers. Ford Pro Intelligence is focused on creating a suite of connected services that optimize vehicle performance, manage charging infrastructure, and improve overall fleet operations. In this role, you will be responsible for guiding the technical direction of your team, ensuring high-quality software delivery, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, and contributing to the overall success of Ford Pro's mission.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

Team Leadership & Management:
•    Lead engineering managers who support software engineering teams that deliver end-to-end software products from conception to production for millions of drivers around the world.
•    Manage and grow software engineering managers and their engineers by providing regular performance feedback, career coaching, and development opportunities.  
•    Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
•    Lead a cross-functional engineering scope — front end teams driving UI/UX, and internal and external API teams delivering the backend services that power our products
•    Lead with customer focus alongside partners in product, design, and engineering partners to define project requirements and priorities.
•    Manage project risks, dependencies, proactively identify and resolve issues.
•    Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
•    Actively participate in recruiting and hiring your teams
•    Actively participate in reviewing, evaluating, and providing feedback on product designs and architectures with a software engineering focus.  
•    Actively seek to improve the engineering delivery pipeline, reducing cycle time and increasing quality and security posture.  
•    Apply advanced concepts, theories, and principles to create multi-disciplinary innovations and solutions for the most complex or risky business situations.  
•    Develop and socialize new engineering principles and practices to improve the organization.  
•    Provide thought leadership and perspective across multiple organizations to eliminate knowledge silos.  
•    Drive continuous improvement and build a learning organization.  
•    Evaluate and recommend new and emerging products and technologies.  
•    Act as a liaison between the team and other departments
•    Act as a liaison between the team and other departments within Ford Pro.
 

Qualifications

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in software development with proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++, Go).
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior leadership role managing people, leading teams, managing managers, and delivering software products to market
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams that build customer-facing, browser-based applications, with a strong understanding of UI/UX principles and modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue).
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud-based technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams that design, build, and scale internal and external APIs, with a strong understanding of service-oriented and microservices architectures.

Even better, you may have...

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with developing and deploying software for connected vehicles or IoT devices.
  • Experience with data analytics and machine learning.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
  • Familiarity with the automotive industry and commercial vehicle operations.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, such as Agile and Lean.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to influence the enterprise, experience presenting to an executive leadership team.

This position is leadership level 5 and ranges from $141,700-$268,300. 

For California candidates this position is a leadership level 5 and ranges from $148,800-$281,700.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
