Zoox is looking for a CAD/BOM Collaboration and Quality Technical Specialist to own the strategy, quality, and enablement of our CATIA design environment. This role sits at the intersection of engineering tools, training, and process — ensuring that every mechanical and vehicle design engineer at Zoox has the skills, standards, and support needed to produce high-quality CAD data efficiently.

You'll partner closely with Engineering, PLM/IT, and People Experience & Learning teams to build a scalable CATIA training program — from forecasting training needs across a growing engineering org, to coordinating instructor-led sessions, to shaping the long-term vision for self-paced and on-demand learning. Beyond training, you'll help define and uphold CAD quality standards that keep our design data clean, consistent, and release-ready.

In this role, you will:

    Training & Enablement

  • Own the CATIA training strategy — forecasting class needs against headcount growth and skill gaps, coordinating instructor-led sessions (scheduling, instructors, logistics), and building a roadmap for self-paced and blended learning

  • Partner with engineering leads to identify skill gaps, tailor curricula by discipline, and track training effectiveness and CAD quality metrics

  • Create and maintain training documentation, quick-reference guides, and onboarding materials

  • CAD Standards & Technical Support

  • Coordinate with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure consistent modeling methodology and provide day-to-day technical support to CAD users

  • Define, standardize, and evangelize CAD standards, driving adoption within 3DEXPERIENCE

  • Tools, Vendors & Systems

  • Serve as Zoox's SME for CATIA/CAD issues with third-party tools providers (e.g., Dassault Systèmes, Siemens), partnering with them, IT/PLM, and Engineering to investigate, trial, and implement CAD tools and automation

  • Work with Zoox-internal teams to investigate, select, and develop a Zoox-specific supplier portal

  • Facilitating CAD Collaboration

  • Support different modes of 3D data exchange across tools and orgs within Zoox

  • Enable secure collaboration with external partners — directly within Zoox's 3DEXPERIENCE platform and via file-based exchange — with a focus on "need to know" access that shares only what's necessary for a given project, efficiently and accountably

  • Team Leadership & Growth

  • Build and lead a team of CAD quality specialists and trainers as the program scales — including making the hiring case, onboarding, and setting priorities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience); 7+ years hands-on with CATIA V5 and/or 3DEXPERIENCE, including advanced modeling, surfacing, and assembly workflows

  • Prior experience developing or delivering CAD training programs at scale, with strong communication and facilitation skills to teach technical content to engineers at varying skill levels

  • Strong understanding of CAD data quality standards, model-based definition, and PLM data management, including experience defining and rolling out CAD standards within 3DEXPERIENCE and driving broad adoption

  • Experience partnering with IT/PLM teams and third-party vendors to scope and implement CAD tooling and automation (e.g., quality checkers, validation scripts)

  • Excellent program management skills — forecasting needs, coordinating multiple stakeholders, and managing training calendars and logistics

  • Experience mentoring, leading, or informally managing others — or a clear readiness to grow into a formal people management role as the function scales

  • A genuine service mindset and builder's mindset — motivated by making engineers' work easier and comfortable creating processes and programs from the ground up

Bonus Qualifications

  • Prior people management experience, particularly building a team from scratch — a major plus

  • Background in instructional design, adult learning, or train-the-trainer/certification models, including experience designing self-paced or e-learning content (e.g., LMS platforms, video-based training, interactive tutorials)

  • Automotive and/or high-tech industry experience
