Role Overview

As a Senior Staff Product Designer at Harvey, you’ll drive the design vision across complex, multi-layered product initiatives—shaping not just features, but systems, strategy, and long-term experience direction. You will steward high-impact work from inception to launch, crafting elegant, intuitive solutions to deeply complex problems. Working closely with engineers, AI researchers, product managers, and lawyers, you’ll define how advanced AI capabilities manifest in the product—creating interfaces that help users understand, trust, and effectively guide AI outputs.

In this role, you’ll operate as both a hands-on practitioner and a supportive design leader—modeling excellence in craft while helping uplift teammates through collaboration, feedback, and shared problem-solving. We’re looking for someone with exceptional interaction and visual design instincts, strong systems thinking, and a track record of elevating multidisciplinary teams through clarity, curiosity, and inclusive partnership.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and influence the design direction across major product surfaces, ensuring coherence, usability, and strategic alignment end-to-end.

  • Partner deeply with product managers, engineers, and AI researchers to shape long-range product vision and translate ambiguous problem spaces into well-defined user experiences.

  • Evolve and scale our design system—driving consistency, accessibility, and a high standard of craft across the entire product ecosystem.

  • Conduct and guide user research efforts, transforming insights into actionable opportunities and system-level improvements.

  • Develop high-fidelity prototypes that explore emerging interactions, AI-assisted workflows, and novel user journeys.

  • Champion design excellence across the org—facilitating critique, mentoring designers through example, and modeling high-quality, iterative thinking.

  • Help foster best practices for designing with AI, including responsible interaction patterns, user trust considerations, and ethical decision-making.

  • Collaborate as a player-coach—remaining hands-on in critical work while supporting peers through thoughtful guidance, inclusive communication, and partnership.

What You Have
  • 10–12+ years of experience designing digital products in fast-paced, high-growth or technically complex environments.

  • A portfolio that showcases exceptional product thinking, interaction design, systems design, and visual craft.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and simplify multifaceted, ambiguous problem spaces while maintaining a high bar for execution.

  • Deep experience with scalable design systems and a strong eye for both structural and aesthetic detail.

  • Experience conducting or guiding user research and integrating qualitative and quantitative insights into design strategy.

  • Exceptional storytelling and communication skills—capable of influencing cross-functional partners and aligning diverse perspectives.

  • A collaborative, low-ego approach that helps teams move quickly, thoughtfully, and inclusively.
