Mill is a waste prevention technology company reimagining what it means to eliminate waste, starting with food. We build smart systems and infrastructure for homes, businesses, and municipalities that transform food scraps from landfill-bound waste into valuable resources, including chicken feed. Tens of thousands of Mill’s residential food recyclers are already helping households divert millions of pounds of food scraps every year, paving the way for our upcoming launch of Mill Commercial—the industry’s first end-to-end solution for managing, understanding, and preventing food waste in commercial environments (e.g. grocery, restaurants, food services). At Mill, we are passionate about building easy-to-use, beautifully designed technologies that keep food in the food system and out of landfills.

Objectives of this role:

System EPMs must be fearless organizers who are ready to work with the highly skilled hardware, software, mechanical design and industrial design teams to identify and resolve potential risks to the schedule and risks to the quality of the product. Success is defined in terms of the quality and timeliness of the pre-production builds and the start of mass production. System EPMs need to have a strong understanding of development and manufacturing processes, from part design to manufacturing to production line bring-up.

We are looking for someone who can balance detailed tactical execution on immediate priorities along with a holistic, strategic vision of the entire program. Cross-functional communication skills and experience are essential. The System EPM will interact with all engineering design disciplines plus reliability, marketing, packaging, operations, and other resources inside and outside of Mill.

We are looking for:

  • Great leadership skills and ability to inspire team members
  • Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience
  • Technical judgment to confirm specifications, requirements, and execution plans are reasonable and attainable
  • Demonstrated proactive, creative and critical thinking capabilities
  • Experience with rapid development cycles
  • Someone who remains flexible and calm in the face of uncertainty

Responsibilites:

  • Creation and maintenance of master program schedule
  • Key point of contact for all cross-functional teams for hardware projects
  • Track and ensure closure of engineering status and issues
  • Responsible for planning and executing engineering builds
  • Be self-directed with the ability to review changes and weigh tradeoffs between engineering resources and operational improvements
  • Program budget forecast and management
  • Drive deep dives for consistent module and system level completion
  • Status/Exec communications while driving day-to-day program activities to meet overall program objectives.
  • Provide timely issue resolution and critical path management

Education & Experience

  • 8+ years experience managing cross-functional teams across various program stages(architecture, integration, validation). Proven track record of managing complex hardware product schedules and engineering.
  • Experience in NPI involving both new hardware and software integration.
  • Strong technical background in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of product development processes as well as an understanding of large scale manufacturing processes such as those used in appliances, automotive, or similar products.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $180k to $230k, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs.
