About the Company:

Peak Energy is the first American venture to advance globally proven Sodium-Ion battery systems as the storage standard for the new era of renewable energy on a resilient grid. Sodium-Ion is cheap, readily available and safe, making it the leading contender in a rapidly evolving market.

Our leadership team is powered by decades of expertise in scaling gigawatt-level innovation at world-class companies such as Tesla, Northvolt, SunPower, Fluence, and Enovix. We are backed by strategic investment and product partners such as TDK Ventures and Eclipse Ventures.

We are a team of engineers, operators, entrepreneurs, and partners driven by a shared ambition to set the new performance standard for renewable energy and grid resilience.

About the Job

Peak Energy is looking for a Lead System Integration and Test Engineer to join our Energy Storage Systems (ESS) team and lead our testing and functional verification efforts for our energy storage systems, from batteries to power electronics. This role will work closely with design and simulation teams to understand needs, develop procedures, set up and run and ultimately report on appropriate tests. Through testing, you will play a key role in informing the design direction of the product. This person is a self-starter who is hungry for knowledge and holds themselves and others to high standards. We are open to all levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct comprehensive functional and integration testing of high voltage battery systems, BMS, and power conversion
  • Design, implement, and validate HIL test systems for real-time simulation and validation of our BMS.
  • Develop, execute, verify, and document test scripts, automation, and user interfaces for the HIL system.
  • Create and maintain automated test scripts to enhance testing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop test strategies, plans, and procedures across systems, from electrical to mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure design integrity and improvements.
  • Analyze complex test data, report findings, and drive system enhancements.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve intricate technical issues during testing.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team skill enhancement.
  • Drive innovation in testing methodologies and practices.
  • Interface tightly with design, simulation and manufacturing engineering partners to inform design decisions.
  • Drive and participate in a culture of rapid prototyping and testing.
  • A great team spirit and get-it-done attitude. No job is too big or too small.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in testing high voltage systems, preferably in power electronics or batteries.
  • In-depth knowledge of HV and thermal systems testing techniques.
  • Experience interfacing with microcontrollers and writing scripts to control components and data acquisition equipment for functional testing.
  • Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and driving positive environmental impact through technology innovation.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High voltage battery and power electronics experience.
  • Utility-scale energy storage systems experience.
  • Experience developing hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test systems

The salary range for this role is $160,000 - $240,000, with actual pay varying based on work location, experience, and skills. Our competitive benefits package includes flexible time off, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, a strong 401(k) plan, and equity opportunities. Join us to thrive in a supportive environment while making a meaningful impact in the energy sector!
