Aypa Power is seeking a tax-focused accounting professional to lead strategic tax initiatives for federal, state, indirect, and select income tax matters across its project portfolio. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to optimize tax treatment, support strategic business initiatives, and navigate evolving regulations, particularly within the renewable energy space. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytically strong, and capable of balancing technical tax analysis with collaboration and support for broader business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and oversee U.S. federal, state, and indirect tax filings, including multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax returns, as well as Canadian GST/HST filings across multiple projects;
  • Manage select income tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate submission of all required documentation;
  • Support the Senior Tax Director with day-to-day tax operations and strategic initiatives, including ad hoc analyses (e.g., E&P analysis and FIRPTA considerations);
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure compliance with evolving tax laws; conduct in-depth research on complex issues, particularly within renewable energy (e.g., ITC, PTC, and accelerated depreciation);
  • Support indirect tax functions, including nexus analysis, taxability determinations for materials and labor, and exemption certificate management;
  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Accounting, Procurement, Development, Asset Management, and Project Finance teams to ensure proper tax treatment, validate tax assumptions in financial models, and align tax strategy with business operations;
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation, support tax audits, assist with tax provision calculations and financial reporting disclosures, and communicate tax implications to stakeholders at all levels;
  • Communicate tax implications and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization; 
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field;
  • CPA license required (or significant progress toward completion);
  • 3-5 years of professional tax experience, including corporate, partnership and indirect taxation;
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations, including income tax and sales & use tax;
  • Excellent technical tax research and analytical skills;
  • Proficiency with tax software;
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in renewable energy, energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors;
  • Knowledge of renewable energy tax incentives (ITC, PTC, MACRS, bonus depreciation);
  • Experience with project finance and complex structures (e.g., partnerships, MLPs, tax equity);
  • Background in multi-state taxation and nexus analysis.

Compensation and Location:

Salary: A base salary commensurate with experience;
Bonus: An annual bonus will be awarded based on individual performance and the overall success of the business;

Location: Hybrid (USA). Ability to work in the United States is a requirement. Preference is Austin, Texas.
