About Harmonic Security
The TechOps team builds the internal systems that keep Harmonic running smoothly as we scale. We create a self-service, automation-first environment where employees get what they need quickly - without relying on traditional ticket-based IT models. Our work blends operational support with engineering, enabling teams through reliable devices, strong identity foundations, smart automation, and internal tools that remove friction from daily work.
We build AI-driven workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and integrate systems so the company can operate with speed and confidence. From onboarding and access management to internal tooling and workflow design, we make the employee experience easy, seamless, and frictionless.
TechOps sits within the wider Security & TechOps function, working closely with security engineers and product teams to ensure the technologies we deploy are both effective and safe. We're hands-on and collaborative, with a strong focus on development work, foundations, and building scalable systems - not old school “IT support”.
About the Team
The Security & TechOps team builds the systems, tooling, and research that keep Harmonic secure, trusted, and able to move fast. We work across the entire lifecycle of how the company operates-from how we build software, to how we detect threats, to how we prove our security posture to customers, to how employees use the technology that powers their work.
We focus on enabling speed without sacrificing safety. That means creating secure-by-default engineering practices, building automation and detections that reduce manual work, researching emerging AI security risks, running assurance programmes like SOC 2 and ISO 27001, and shaping the internal platforms that help teams work efficiently and securely.
We’re a hands-on, engineering-first group. We avoid box-ticking and heavy process in favour of practical solutions, strong automation, and constant improvement. We collaborate closely across functions, operate with high ownership, and support each other through rapid growth. Our shared goal is to build the trust, systems, and capabilities that let Harmonic innovate confidently and at scale.
About the Role
We’re hiring a Senior TechOps Support Engineer to build and run the systems that keep Harmonic’s employees productive and secure. This is our first dedicated U.S. TechOps hire, supporting a fast-growing team across time zones and providing an operational presence for remote and in-office employees.
This role is hands-on and engineering-focused. Your work will span day-to-day support, tooling improvements, identity management, and building the automation and self-service systems that scale TechOps as the company grows. Rather than operating a traditional ticket queue, you’ll design a TechOps platform that resolves most issues through AI, automation, and self-service so your time can be spent building the technology foundations the company needs.
You’ll also drop into teams across the business to understand their operational needs and build solutions - from custom GPTs and workflow automations to integrating tools and data to streamline how people work.
You’ll lead major initiatives such as migrating an IdP, designing an AI-driven TechOps support assistant, and developing internal tools that help teams work more efficiently. You’ll work closely with the whole organisation ensuring the company’s technology environment remains secure, reliable, and easy to use.
What You’ll Do
- Provide TechOps support for employees when needed, covering core tools, devices, and day-to-day issues while focusing on building self-service and automated systems that reduce manual intervention over time.
- Lead the migration onto a new identity provider, including planning, implementation, communication, and post-migration support.
- Design and build an AI-driven TechOps chatbot, using automation tools such as Tines to handle common requests, guide troubleshooting, and reduce repetitive support tasks.
- Develop and maintain internal tools and workflows that support onboarding, offboarding, access control, SaaS administration, and routine operational tasks.
- Own endpoint management across macOS (primary), with additional coverage for Windows and Linux using tools such as Kandji, Intune, or FleetDM.
- Administer core productivity platforms, including Google Workspace, Okta, Notion, Slack, Jira and other key SaaS tools.
- Work directly with teams across the business to understand their technical needs, design solutions, and build lightweight tools.
- Support company offsites and large events, ensuring employees have reliable access to devices, connectivity, and key systems.
- Maintain a security-first approach, partnering with the Security team to implement controls, support audits, and reinforce secure-by-default practices across the company.
- Create internal documentation and knowledge resources that improve transparency, reduce support dependency, and help employees resolve issues independently.
- Contribute to the long-term development of the TechOps function, helping shape a team that combines operational support and engineering-led tooling development.
What Success Looks Like (6–12 months)
- Design, build, and launch an AI-driven TechOps support chatbot that can resolve common requests, surface troubleshooting steps, and reduce manual support load from day one.
- Successfully migrate our identity provider by moving from Google Workspace to Okta, ensuring a smooth transition, minimal disruption, and clear communication to all users.
- Embed yourself within our teams to understand their workflows and identify opportunities to build tools, integrations, custom GPTs, or automations that meaningfully improve how they work.
- Automate high-volume manual tasks across TechOps, replacing repetitive work with self-service workflows and lightweight internal tooling.
- Establish the foundational frameworks and standards for TechOps, including directory structures, access group models, documentation patterns, wiki conventions, response expectations, and consistent operational processes.
- Support office setups, moves, and in-person events, ensuring employees have reliable devices, connectivity, and access when onsite.
- Create the early structure for a future TechOps function that spans support and development, documenting patterns, tools, and processes that will allow the team to scale.
- Enable rapid company growth by improving onboarding, offboarding, laptop provisioning, and the overall new-joiner experience.
You Might Be a Fit If You…
- Enjoy building internal tools, AI workflows, and automations that remove repetitive TechOps tasks and improve the employee experience.
- Like dropping into different teams, understanding their needs, and creating tailored solutions - from custom GPTs to workflow integrations.
- Prefer a self-service, engineering-first approach to TechOps rather than traditional ticket-driven IT models.
- Are comfortable supporting macOS, identity systems, SaaS tools, and MDMs while also designing long-term scalable foundations.
- Can balance hands-on support with development work, and stay adaptable as the business grows and priorities shift.
