As a Senior UI/UX Designer, you will create innovative user experiences for robotics, leading research and design processes across mobile, web, and physical interfaces.
The summary above was generated by AI

Dexmate is building the foundation for physical AI — a unified platform that combines high-quality robotic hardware with a universal Physical AI OS, making robots as easy to build and deploy as software. Today, robotics is fragmented, slow, and closed: most builders are forced to reinvent the same stack again and again, and most ideas never make it past the prototype stage. We exist to change that. Our mission is to democratize robotics by lowering the barrier to entry, delivering a plug-and-play platform for developers, researchers, and enterprises, and cultivating an open ecosystem that accelerates the evolution of physical AI. If you want to help shape the next layer of human capability — and believe the future of robotics should be built together, not in isolation — we'd love to build it with you.

About the Role

We’re looking for an exceptional Senior Product Designer to help define how humans interact with intelligent machines.

You’ll join a fast-moving team of engineers, researchers, and builders redefining what’s possible in robotics and Physical AI. As one of our earliest design hires, you’ll have foundational influence over our products, interaction paradigms, design systems, and user experience philosophy.

This is not a traditional SaaS design role.

You’ll design experiences that bridge the digital and physical worlds — spanning mobile apps, web platforms, robotics interfaces, operational tooling, and entirely new interaction models that don’t yet exist.

You’ll work directly with founders, robotics engineers, AI researchers, and hardware teams to shape the future of human-robot interaction from the ground up.

AI-Native Design Culture

We strongly believe AI-native workflows will fundamentally redefine how products are designed and built.

We’re looking for designers who actively embrace AI tools as creative and productivity multipliers — people excited to experiment with new workflows, rapidly iterate, generate prototypes quickly, and push beyond traditional design processes.

This role is ideal for someone who already uses AI tools daily and is excited about continuously evolving how they work as the tooling landscape advances rapidly.

What You’ll Do
  • Pioneer new interaction models for human–robot communication beyond traditional UI paradigms

  • Design end-to-end experiences across mobile, web, robotics interfaces, and physical controls

  • Create intuitive workflows that make advanced robotics accessible to developers, operators, and enterprises

  • Lead user research to understand how people naturally interact with robots and Physical AI systems

  • Build scalable design systems spanning both digital and physical touchpoints

  • Collaborate closely with AI, robotics, and hardware teams to create seamless user experiences

  • Rapidly prototype and iterate using modern AI-native design workflows

  • Own the full design lifecycle from concept through implementation with high autonomy

  • Define UX standards and interaction patterns for the emerging Physical AI industry

  • Work directly with founders on product strategy, vision, and future platform direction

What We’re Looking ForCore Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional product design or UI/UX experience

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product development and shipped experiences

  • Proven experience taking products from 0 → 1 in fast-moving environments

  • Deep proficiency in modern AI-native design workflows and tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, AI prototyping/generation/design tools, etc.)

  • You should already be actively using AI tools as part of your daily design workflow

  • Enthusiasm for integrating AI into ideation, research, wireframing, prototyping, user flows, and iteration cycles

  • Comfortable rapidly exploring concepts using AI-assisted tooling rather than relying solely on traditional manual workflows

  • Strong systems-thinking mindset — designing cohesive experiences across multiple surfaces, devices, and interaction models

  • Expert proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools (ProtoPie, Principle, Framer, or similar)

  • Strong experience designing for both web and mobile platforms

  • Ability to operate independently with high ownership and minimal oversight

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills across technical and non-technical audiences

Bonus Points
  • Experience designing for robotics, AI, AR/VR, IoT, or other emerging technologies

  • Background in industrial design or physical product design

  • Understanding of robotics or hardware development constraints

  • Motion design, animation, or spatial interaction experience

  • Front-end development knowledge (HTML/CSS/JavaScript)

  • Experience with 3D applications or spatial interfaces

  • Interest in the future of AI and human-computer interaction

Your Portfolio Should Demonstrate
  • Clear case studies showing problem definition, process, and measurable outcomes

  • Cross-platform work across web, mobile, and/or physical interfaces

  • Complex workflows simplified through elegant interaction design

  • Strong visual craftsmanship and attention to detail

  • Design systems or component libraries you’ve built

  • Evidence of user research and iterative design thinking

  • High taste, clarity, and strong product intuition

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
