About the role

  • Job Title: Senior UE Engineer (Switch)
  • Location: Remote, based in Brazil, Eastern USA or Braga
  • Duration: Contract position until May 2027

Side is looking for a passionate and collaborative Senior UE Engineer (Switch) to help bring our partners games to players across the latest console platforms. In this role, you'll combine technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and a proactive mindset to ensure exceptional player experiences on Nintendo Switch 2, Microsoft Xbox Series X|S, and Sony PlayStation 5. You'll work closely with engineers, artists, and production teams to identify potential challenges early, anticipate performance and certification risks, and develop effective solutions before they impact development timelines.

Success in this role requires someone who enjoys tackling complex technical problems, optimizing systems for peak performance, and continuously improving development processes. You'll help drive successful console launches by building tools, establishing best practices, and collaborating across disciplines to address performance concerns and platform requirements. Beyond delivering high-quality ports, you'll mentor fellow engineers, share your expertise, and help foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.


Requirements
  • Experience porting to mobile and/or Nintendo Switch
  • 5+ years professional software development experience
  • Professional software development experience in C++
  • Professional experience developing software with the Unreal Game Engine
  • Subject matter expert in rendering pipelines and GPU debugging
  • Strong programming and software architecture skills
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve development goals with minimal supervision
  • Experience with performance optimization
  • Good communication with non-technical audience about complex topics
  • Technical leadership in the form of long term planning and short term task breakdown
  • BS or higher in Computer Science or similar discipline (Physics, Math, EE, etc.), or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

  • Console development for XSX|S, PS5
