Zoox is looking for a Senior Vehicle Network Integration Engineer to drive the design, integration, and verification of our vehicle networks. You’ll lead network architecture, communication protocols, and system verification to ensure seamless connectivity across our autonomous vehicle platform. Working cross-functionally with firmware, software, and hardware teams, you’ll play a key role in developing a high-performance, fail-safe network for our robotaxi.
In this role, you will:
- Own vehicle network design, including physical design, communication protocols, and key performance attributes (latency, utilization, schedulability)
- Be an expert user of automotive network technologies including: Automotive Ethernet (including 10Base-T1S), CAN (CAN-FD, CAN XL), FlexRay, and LIN
- Lead network modeling, verification, and validation ahead of component builds to ensure robust integration
- Understand network physical requirements and drive design for robust and reliable signal integrity
- Collaborate with firmware, software, and hardware teams to support agile development and ensure network health
- Apply functional safety (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity principles to network design while defining and maintaining Zoox’s internal network standards
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of experience in systems design, including 5+ years in automotive networking
- Expertise in fail-operational / fail-safe network concepts, diagnostics, and functional safety (ISO 26262)
- Experience in automotive network design, security concepts, and communication protocols
- Experience with vehicle network testing and requirements management tools (IBM DOORS, Siemens Polarion, or similar)
- Hands-on experience in network verification, supplier evaluation, and system debugging
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with Model-Based System Design (MBSD) processes
- Knowledge of real-time embedded software architecture, such as AUTOSAR
- Experience with advanced embedded software architectures, including Linux
Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $190,000 to $239,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
