Position Overview

MetroSys is seeking an experienced Services Pre-Sales Consultant to help translate customer technology needs into well-defined, commercially sound service engagements.

This role sits at the intersection of sales, technical consulting, service delivery, and business operations. The consultant will work directly with customers and MetroSys account teams to understand requirements, shape potential solutions, determine the appropriate delivery model, and develop the documentation and pricing necessary to move an opportunity into execution.

The ideal candidate understands how IT services are sold and delivered and is comfortable moving between customer conversations, technical teams, pricing discussions, Statements of Work (SOWs), and partner coordination. This position requires someone who can bring structure to loosely defined requirements and turn them into engagements that customers understand and delivery teams can successfully execute.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with MetroSys sales teams during the services sales cycle to understand customer objectives, technical requirements, timelines, constraints, and expected outcomes.

  • Facilitate discovery conversations with customers and internal technical resources to develop a clear understanding of project requirements and potential areas of risk.

  • Translate discovery findings into defined service scopes, assumptions, deliverables, responsibilities, timelines, and acceptance criteria.

  • Create and refine Statements of Work, service proposals, estimates, and supporting customer documentation for professional and managed services opportunities.

  • Develop service pricing and resource models while considering labor requirements, partner costs, project complexity, delivery risk, and target margins.

  • Determine the appropriate delivery approach using MetroSys consultants, subcontractors, strategic partners, or a combination of resources.

  • Coordinate technical validation with architects, engineers, and subject matter experts before proposed solutions and scopes are presented to customers.

  • Support account executives during customer presentations, scope discussions, proposal reviews, and commercial negotiations.

  • Identify potential scope gaps, dependencies, assumptions, or delivery risks before an engagement is finalized.

  • Engage technology and services partners when specialized capabilities or additional delivery capacity are required.

  • Review partner proposals, estimates, and scopes to confirm they align with customer requirements and the overall MetroSys solution.

  • Coordinate the internal approval process for pricing, scope, resource requirements, and commercial terms.

  • Prepare completed engagements for transition into delivery by ensuring project documentation, expectations, assumptions, and responsibilities are clearly communicated to the appropriate delivery and operational teams.

  • Maintain accurate opportunity, pricing, scope, and engagement information within MetroSys business systems.

  • Help develop reusable SOW language, estimating methods, service offerings, templates, and pre-sales processes that improve consistency and speed across the organization.

Role Focus

This position is primarily responsible for services solution development and pre-sales execution rather than direct account ownership or day-to-day project management.

The Services Pre-Sales Consultant helps move opportunities from initial customer requirements to an executable engagement. Technical architects and engineers will provide appropriate solution validation, while project and delivery teams assume ownership once an engagement moves into implementation.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in IT professional services, pre-sales consulting, solutions consulting, sales engineering, technical services, or a similar customer-facing technology role.

  • Experience gathering technical and business requirements and converting them into clearly defined service engagements.

  • Hands-on experience developing or contributing to Statements of Work, proposals, estimates, project scopes, or services pricing.

  • Understanding of the lifecycle of an IT services engagement, from discovery and solution development through contracting and delivery handoff.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, account executives, engineers, technical architects, project managers, vendors, and business stakeholders.

  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, professional, customer-facing documentation.

  • Ability to evaluate project requirements, identify potential risks and dependencies, and recognize when additional technical expertise is required.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active opportunities and priorities simultaneously.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and common CRM, quoting, documentation, and business productivity platforms.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working for an IT consulting firm, MSP, technology integrator, VAR, or professional services organization.

  • Familiarity with infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, networking, end-user computing, data center, and managed services engagements.

  • Experience working with technology manufacturers, distributors, subcontractors, and third-party services partners.

  • Understanding of services profitability, resource costing, utilization, margin, and project pricing concepts.

  • Experience supporting both project-based professional services and recurring managed services opportunities.

  • Familiarity with CRM and professional services management workflows used to track opportunities from qualification through delivery.
