In this position... 
The Ford Energy Site IT Systems Engineer provides hands-on technical support and execution for IT infrastructure, applications, and end-user services across the Ford Energy site. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of site IT systems that support battery manufacturing, energy systems, and business operations, working under the direction of the Site IT Manager to execute on infrastructure readiness, incident response, and cybersecurity initiatives. Off-hour, weekend, and holiday support may be required based on business needs.
 

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

  • Install, configure, monitor, and maintain site IT infrastructure, including data center equipment, network devices, servers, PCs, mobile devices, and related hardware/software.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support for IT equipment across production, warehouse, office, lab, utility, outbuilding, and remote operating areas.
  • Serve as first-line responder for incidents, performing triage, troubleshooting, and escalation; document root cause analysis and support implementation of preventive and corrective actions.
  • Execute planned maintenance, system updates, and outages in coordination with operations, plant teams, vendors, and IT leadership, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Support rollout of major IT and business initiatives (infrastructure/application upgrades, IIOT deployments, cybersecurity remediation, end-user productivity tools) by executing installation, testing, and go-live activities.
  • Assist in developing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery and high-availability procedures for critical plant infrastructure and manufacturing applications.
  • Perform routine system health checks, capacity monitoring, and proactive maintenance to identify and resolve issues before they impact operations.
  • Support cybersecurity compliance efforts, including patching, vulnerability remediation, access control administration, and adherence to security policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, incidents, and procedures (runbooks, knowledge base articles).
  • Mentor junior technicians and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and accountable team environment.
     
Qualifications

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, network support, or manufacturing IT environments.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations, plant floor systems, or industrial IT/OT environments preferred; battery or energy industry experience a plus.
  • Solid understanding of networking, servers, virtualization, and endpoint management.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and escalate appropriately.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including union-represented resources.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a fast-paced operational setting.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Self-starter with strong ownership, attention to detail, and follow-through.

This position is a salary grade 5 and ranges from $65,100-$109,300., 

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500., 

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900., 

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.  

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.

Company: As Ford establishes a wholly owned subsidiary focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems, this role will initially be employed by Ford and is expected to transition to the subsidiary within one year.
