At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.

Snowflake is about empowering enterprises to achieve their full potential — and people too. With a culture that's all in on impact, innovation, and collaboration, Snowflake is the sweet spot for building big, moving fast, and taking technology — and careers — to the next level.

Snowflake redefined the data landscape over a decade ago, and our biggest opportunity is also our customers' biggest challenge: migration. For every enterprise ready to harness the power of the AI Data Cloud, there lies a complex web of legacy systems that can take years and millions of dollars to untangle. We believe Generative AI is the key — we are building products that don't just move data, but understand and rewrite the logic of entire data applications.

We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager, AI Migrations (Forward Deployed) to sit at the intersection of customer delivery and product engineering. This is a unique hybrid role: you will lead a team of forward-deployed engineers who work directly with customers and partners on complex migration projects while simultaneously driving the development of AI-powered migration tools and products. Your team will be the bridge between field realities and product innovation — turning hard-won migration patterns into scalable, automated solutions.

AS A MANAGER, MIGRATIONS YOU WILL:

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Manage and mentor a team of Forward Deployed Engineers, providing clear feedback, identifying strengths, and developing growth paths

  • Recruit, hire, and onboard future team members, setting them up for success in both customer-facing delivery and engineering contributions

  • Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and practical decision-making across delivery and engineering work streams

  • Support engineers in their career development, growing both technical delivery leads and engineering leaders

Customer Delivery & Project Execution

  • Provide strategic oversight for migration projects, ensuring alignment with customer objectives and company goals

  • Lead teams executing complex migrations from legacy systems (Oracle, Teradata, Netezza, SQL Server, etc.) to the Snowflake platform

  • Act as the primary escalation point for delivery concerns, working closely with customers and system integrators

  • Maintain a hands-on presence on strategic projects, leveraging your technical expertise to assess quality and unblock teams

  • Collaborate with sales teams to scope opportunities, develop proposals, and ensure effective account strategy execution

Engineering & Product Build

  • Drive the design, development, and iteration of AI-powered migration tools and products based on real-world customer needs

  • Guide the team through an evolving AI ecosystem to build AI-first products — including code translation, developer co-pilots, and semantic validation

  • Translate field insights and customer requirements into engineering roadmap items and product improvements

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management organizations to align on priorities and deliver high-quality solutions

  • Encourage the development and sharing of best practices, utilities, and accelerators that streamline migrations and feed back into product

Cross-Functional Impact

  • Work with organizational leaders to influence GTM strategies, leading initiatives and improvements across Sales and Engineering

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and cross-team learning between field engineers and product engineering teams

  • Present to both technical and executive audiences, articulating migration strategies, product vision, and business outcomes

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • University degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related fields (or equivalent experience)

  • 7+ years of experience in technical roles involving customer-facing delivery, engineering

  • 5+ years of people management experience — mentoring, coaching, and developing technical teams

  • 3+ years of experience building and delivering enterprise software products, particularly involving AI/ML or developer tools

  • Demonstrated success leading teams through complex data platform migrations and cloud transformation projects

  • Strong foundation in databases, data warehouses, and data processing — hands-on experience with large-scale systems (Oracle, Teradata, Netezza, SQL Server, Greenplum, Hadoop)

  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and the complete data analytics stack (ETL, data platform design, BI/analytics tools)

  • Familiarity with data integration/transformation tools (Informatica, DataStage, Talend, Matillion, dbt) and BI tools (Tableau, MicroStrategy, Business Objects)

  • Extensive hands-on expertise with SQL, SQL analytics, and scripting (Python, Perl, Bash)

  • Resourceful, data-driven, strong partners, and able to step in as PM, program manager, or architect when needed

  • Hiring and growing the team, technical leadership (including for staff+ engineers), driving projects from idea to production, and partnering across teams and with customers

  • Strong experience scoping engagements — developing delivery estimates, proposals, and project plans

  • Outstanding presentation skills for both technical and executive audiences
