About Us

Socket helps devs and security teams ship faster by cutting out security busywork. Thousands of orgs use Socket to safely find, audit, and manage open source code. Our customers - from Anthropic to xAI, and Figma to Vercel - love Socket (just check out their tweets to see for yourself!)

Founded by Feross Aboukhadijeh, a long-time open source maintainer with software downloaded over a billion times a month, Socket has raised $125M in funding from top angels, operators, and security leaders.

Socket is hiring a Social Media Manager to own our presence across every platform where developers and security practitioners are paying attention. We want someone who runs our channels like a product: watching metrics and trends closely, and changing course fast when something isn't landing.

The role requires solid video and audio editing skill and narrative discipline. We build stories across weeks and campaigns, not single disconnected posts. It requires exceptional command of meme culture and internet humor, applied correctly and distinctly across each platform we operate on. And it requires being AI native: using modern AI tools by default to amplify your own creativity and push the boundaries of what technical content can look like. A portfolio showcasing your content, editing, and storytelling work is required as part of your application.

Experience in DevRel, technical marketing, or a technical newsroom is a bonus. Prior full ownership of a content calendar, solo, is also a bonus.

What You'll Do

Own the Platforms

  • Manage Socket's presence across every platform in our mix, and help identify where we should expand next

  • Track performance metrics and platform trends on an ongoing basis, and adapt content and strategy based on what the data shows

  • Keep Socket present and timely in fast-moving developer conversations and trends as they happen

Produce the Content

  • Slice long-form podcasts, webinars, and interviews into high-impact 30 to 60 second clips

  • Edit and optimize clips for each platform with captions, dynamic cuts, and visual hooks

  • Turn technical blog posts and product updates into carousels, memes, and short screen-recording walkthroughs

  • Run a consistent, reliable weekly content calendar

Engage the Community

  • Engage directly in comments, reply to industry peers, and jump into trending tech topics with Socket's point of view

  • Build a recognizable presence in developer conversations, not just a posting schedule

  • Inbound inbox triage, and crisis and reputation monitoring

About You:

  • Deep tech and developer literacy: fluent in developer culture, humor, tools, and pain points

  • Exquisite meme capabilities, applied judiciously across different platforms and tones

  • Terminally online, sharp, and technically precise

  • AI native: uses modern AI tools by default as part of how the work gets done

  • Proven short-form video and audio editing skills, backed by a strong portfolio

  • Demonstrated storytelling ability across a series of posts or a campaign, not just single posts

  • Platform fluency: a distinct voice and editing approach for each platform we operate on

  • A deep sense of ownership over the channels and the content, not just execution of a calendar

  • Ability to take a rough idea or concept and move fast, without needing every detail specified

  • Impeccable discretion regarding online communication, given the visibility and stakes of a public brand voice

  • Experience in DevRel, developer marketing, or a technical newsroom or media environment, preferred

  • Existing presence or credibility within a developer community, preferred

  • Experience owning a content calendar solo, end to end

  • Comfort with security, infrastructure, and open source subject matter

Hiring is a big decision on both sides. Read more about our Hiring Philosophy and how we approach the process at Socket.
