Social Media Creator | Acorns

Acorns is a financial wellness company that helps people build lasting wealth through small, everyday actions. Education helps people understand how those everyday actions shape their financial future. We’re looking for a creator who can bring that connection to life for everyone, from people just getting started to experienced investors who want to keep learning and growing.

You understand how money works and the principles of responsible wealth building. You know how to find the insightful analogy, relatable story, or right format to make an idea click, whether that’s a graphic that breaks down a complex topic or a skit that feels like everyday life. Your content earns attention and leaves people with something useful, answering the questions people have about money, including the ones they haven’t known how to ask.

As a recurring face of Acorns and Acorns Early, you’ll create original content and own our social channels. You’ll bring your voice, develop new formats, and build a community that comes back to learn and grow.

This role reports to the Sr. Director of Brand Marketing. Acorns is remote-first, with optional office space in Irvine, CA.

What You'll Be Doing:

This is a creator role with channel ownership. You’ll be a recurring on-camera presence for Acorns, creating original social content from concept through posting. You’ll be responsible for the success of the channels from strategy to community engagement. This role is about original ideas, experimentation, and velocity.

  • Create and be the face of Acorns and Acorns Early content: direct-to-camera video, voiceover storytelling, UGC-style content, edu-tainment, trend-driven formats, and moments featuring our team, CEO, and customers.

  • Lead social strategy and own the content calendar for both Acorns and Acorns Early, tied to larger marketing and business goals.

  • Work with creators: source, scope, and manage external creators to reach priority communities.

  • Lead community management: be the hands on the keys for our day-to-day community management to foster a strong, engaged community.

  • Grow our channels: Instagram and TikTok first, with Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms next.

  • Report on performance: share insights on engagement, audience growth, and content effectiveness to shape future work.

  • Champion the brand: own Acorns’ voice and visual presence on social, and spot opportunities to join relevant conversations in culture, investing, and fintech.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • 5-8+ years creating content and managing social channels

  • A portfolio of social-first content you’ve created yourself, including on-camera work

  • End-to-end creator skills: concepting, scripting, shooting, editing, and publishing with speed and intention

  • Strong short-form video skills and fluency in Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Canva

  • Deep understanding of Instagram and TikTok formats, algorithms, and audience behavior (YouTube, Reddit, and LinkedIn experience is a plus)

  • A creator’s instincts and a strategist’s brain: you understand why something works

  • Self-starter energy and cultural fluency: you see an opportunity and make something

  • Real empathy for the people on the other side of the screen

Fintech knowledge is a plus. Your social instincts matter most. You don’t need to meet every requirement listed. If you believe in Acorns’ mission, we’d love to hear from you.

What we offer:
  • Competitive salary and stock options

  • A comprehensive benefits package for you and your family

  • Flexible work location, hours, and paid time off

  • 401(k) matching

  • Monthly Acorns account contribution & GoHenry account for your family

  • Mindfulness and Financial Wellness resources, Headspace and Addition Wealth

  • Acorns Career Development Program (Ongoing training sessions, development plans, development check-ins, Cornerstone’s online training platform)

  • Roots Leadership Program for Emerging Leaders

  • Community week onsite gatherings and various virtual events

  • Talented and motivated team members who care deeply about one another, our mission, and our customers.

  • The rare opportunity to create a new world. We inspire one another every day to do meaningful work that solves big societal challenges.
