Role overview

The Social Media Video Editor & Designer at CapsLock creates engaging, platform-first video content for TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.

The role is primarily focused on short-form video editing — turning raw footage into polished, dynamic videos through strong pacing, storytelling, transitions, captions, sound, and motion graphics.

It also calls for solid graphic design skills to produce supporting static assets such as graphics, thumbnails, overlays, and other visual elements when needed.

Working closely with the social media team, this person keeps content aligned with brand guidelines, marketing objectives, and platform best practices — while staying on top of new editing styles, creative formats, and social media trends.

Responsibilities

Video Editing & Post-Production

  • Edit engaging short-form videos for TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, with a focus on strong hooks, pacing, storytelling, and platform-native formats.
  • Turn raw footage into polished social content using cuts, captions, transitions, music, voiceovers, sound effects, and visual effects.
  • Adapt and optimize content for different platforms, formats, aspect ratios, and technical requirements.

Graphic Design & Creative Development

  • Create motion graphics and supporting design assets, including overlays, text animations, thumbnails, static posts, and Stories.
  • Develop creative concepts and video drafts, incorporating team and stakeholder feedback into final deliverables.

Collaboration & Performance

  • Collaborate with the social media team to review performance and improve creatives based on engagement, retention, and other key metrics.
  • Work cross-functionally with CRO, Media Buying, Sales, and other teams to support campaign and business objectives.

Trends & Workflow Management

  • Stay current with social media trends, editing styles, platform updates, and emerging creative formats.
  • Maintain organized project files and digital assets with clear version control.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of professional video editing and creative experience, ideally focused on social media and digital content.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing short-form video editing, motion graphics, and graphic design work.
  • Strong video editing skills using Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar tools.
  • Graphic design skills using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, or similar tools.
  • Strong visual storytelling skills, with a good understanding of pacing, hooks, composition, and attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, including current content formats, trends, and creative best practices.
  • Ability to follow brand guidelines while bringing fresh creative ideas to content.
  • Results-driven mindset, with an understanding of how creative decisions can impact engagement and performance.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly in a remote-first environment.

Nice-to-Have Requirements

  • Experience with motion graphics, animation, or advanced visual effects.
  • Experience creating content for influencer campaigns, UGC, or branded collaborations.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered video, design, and content creation tools.
  • Understanding of social media algorithms, trends, and engagement strategies.
  • Background in digital marketing or performance-driven creative, with an understanding of how video content contributes to engagement, clicks, and conversions.
