The Software Engineer will develop and optimize C++ code for data handling, manage scalable data frameworks, and collaborate across teams to enhance data processes.
We are looking for engineers who are passionate about managing data at scale. As a Software Core Data engineer, you will work across the entire data generation stack, from optimizing multi-threaded, on-vehicle C++ code that handles millions of messages each minute to analyzing petabytes of data.
You will develop and scale software frameworks for efficiently identifying the most interesting driving data on-robot, ensuring access to critical business data while minimizing robot turnaround time. You will interface with other on-vehicle software teams to promote the adoption of these new data frameworks. You will also work with experts in our autonomy, hardware, safety, legal, and homologation teams to ensure our systems are dependable and compliant at all levels of data stack.
In this role, you will:
- Implement data downsampling while preserving the business value
- Develop features to simplify data tracking for legal and regulatory needs
- Optimize performance of the existing framework to run efficiently on vehicle
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify and add missing framework features
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of professional experience in software development or related fields and BS in computer science or related field
- Strong proficiency in C++ and Python
- Experience with scalable data pipeline architecture
- Experience with Linux and systems programming
Bonus Qualifications:
- AWS S3 object storage experience, particularly across storage tiers
- Petabyte-level data management
- Experience with Auction/Bidding algorithms
