The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Twin Software Simulation and Deployment Engineer to support Strategic Space Communications Programs in El Segundo, CA. This position will support the Boeing Defense Services (BDS) business unit.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Experienced and Lead Software Engineers.
Our team builds software and hardware-based satellite simulators and emulators in support of the world's highest-performing satellite systems for U.S. government and commercial customers.
In this role you will design, implement, test, and maintain software models and system-level simulators that reproduce operational conditions (i.e., simulated scenarios) to enable mission rehearsals and spacecraft operator training. This is an opportunity to support multiple software-based projects in a rapid, agile CI/CD environment using modern technologies and tools. We're looking for skilled developers who thrive in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams, like to try new things, and aren't afraid of a challenge.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Review, analyze, translate, and implement customer requirements for software-based simulation products
  • Designs, Integrate, modify, test, and debug simulation models and scenarios
  • Interface with a technically diverse user community and a multi-disciplinary integrated product team (Systems and Software)
  • Works independently and collaboratively to deliver innovative, high-impact solutions to complex technical challenges
  • Designs and write custom tools and processes to support configuration automation

Security Clearance:
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • 3+ years' experience with real-time/near real-time simulations packages and development
  • 3+ years' experience with modern programming and scripting languages such as C++, Java, JavaScript, Perl, Python, Visual Basic
  • Experience with CICD implementation experience for both infrastructure and software deployments with tools such as Ansible, Chef, Jenkins, Puppet, and Azure DevOps

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Level 4: 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience OR 13+ years of related, relevant experience
  • Experience developing satellite simulations
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle that includes requirements analysis through Formal Qualification
  • Experience with implementing infrastructure and deployment environment related software/tools (e.g., containerization, message brokering, software APIs, etc.)
  • Experience with automating software builds, unit tests, and integration tests using a DevOps tool chain

Summary Pay Range for Experienced level (Level 3): USD $135,150 - $182,850
Summary Pay Range for Lead level (Level 4): USD $171,700 - $232,300
